frozencell
I never liked Lauryn Hill as a person. I thought a couple of her songs were catchy, but I never listened to them because of the vibe I always got from her. First, how can you believe in God at all and make a racial statement such as rather having your family starve than sell to whites? And how on earth could she make such a statement as not believing in God's representatives on earth? Aren't we ALL representatives of Christ here on earth? Her comment isn't only blasphemous, but it doesn't even make any sense. I don't really see someone who can't make logical statements a real threat to the Eternal Truth.
CICCIO
Please don't judge her because of her ignorance. No, perhaps she should not have said what she did, and her actions may have been rash, but she still desirves respect and dignity. She's human like u and me. Don't forget to be the loving christians we are called to be just because someone made you upset. :)
Seatbelt Blue
do you guys remember a few years ago when she said that she would rather have her kids starve then to have a white person buy her records? You are aware that such a statement never occured, correct? It was a rumor, not an actual event.
frozencell
You are aware that such a statement never occured, correct? It was a rumor, not an actual event. Thank you for clearing that up. I appreciate that. But I still don't see how she can say something like that other things she's said. I'm not judging. I'm questioning.
ThereseFlower
I'm sorry, but if I were at that concert I would have been VERY cheesed off at her. I don't to a concert to hear someone blast me with their religious beliefs--she has a right to her opinion but when it is forced on me I find it in extremely BAD taste. Boo, hiss.
MrsFrozen
I don't like it when Hollywood tries to get involved in politics and religion. Who actually cares about their stupid opinions, anyway? Some of them think they're God's gift to the "little people." It's upsetting.
MrsFrozen
To be fair, Lauryn Hill never said that about white people. http://www.snopes.com/quotes/lauryn.htm

Yet again, celebrities are ordinary people, so they can state their beliefs and opinions. Same can be said if a devout Catholic actor/actress or something were to state his/her beliefs. frozencell
True, but when was the last time the "little person" got to stand on a stage in front of thousands of people, and then re-broadcast to several other million, giving their mundane and irreverant opinion on something that they weren't an expert on. Not saying that anyone is really an expert on God, but unless you are "overly gifted" (musicians, actors/actresses) you have to have a PhD in something, and that might get you on a show on Lifetime or something. I've personally never had the chance to spout my beliefs to the masses simply because I don't make movies or sing really cool songs or anything like that. And if I did I'm sure there would be those who would say that I didn't have the right stage to preach my beliefs on.....And so we see it's a vicious cycle. Neverending.
