Mary-Kathryn
What can I do to lesson my extreme fright of demons?? I began to be terrified after I watched the passion. Sometimes at night I feel I can almost see them. Its aweful. Should I just pray? Kristina
Here are some tips to soothe you at bedtime since you are beset by the fears of demons sometimes at night ... set a routine: have quiet after a certain time, read a book, say your prayers etc.. Perhaps have some type of light either directly in your room or filtering through to your room when you are afraid. There are also crucifixes I have seen that you can attatch to your pillow or do as I have done: get a strong rosary [cord/plastic] blessed and place it under your pillow at night. How awesome it is to go to sleep in the arms of The Blessed Virgin!
Theologian in Training
why does he allow these awful things to happen to people? why does he let the devil do it?
You are basically asking me why God allows people to suffer? The best response to that is from a saint, whom I cannot for the life of me remember, he/she said, "the closer we get to the sun the more we feel the heat." So too, with God, the closer we come to Him, the more we feel the "heat." Christ showed us that the way to salvation was by way of suffering. Everyone has their cross to carry, and the weight to bear, and this is just one of your crosses that you are to endure. Just remember, though it is scary and you don't understand the reasons, God is allowing this for some reason, which you will come to understand eventually. Perhaps, not anytime soon, but one day you will understand, and it will make sense. I don't pretend to imply that it is easy, by any means, but from this you will learn a lot. I can definitely guarantee that. I am sorry I don't have the answer you are looking for, but if I did, I would be surprised myself. morostheos
One thing that helps me is to think of how tiny and not-powerful satan is compared to God. A lot of times in our head, we see a spiritual battle and think both sides are about equal, but that's not the case! It's like a if the devil was a house cat and we are a mouse, we are afraid of him. But God is a lion that is protecting us from the house cat. With God's protection, we have nothing to fear!

Kristina
I have had the same problem... I have resorted to our secret weapons, and it has help huge. I pray the Rosary before I go to sleep. I say the pray of daily neglects, asking Gods forgivness of any sins I have commited prior that day. Ask for strength. Then with one of my Rosarys under my pillow, I wrap it around my hand and begin to pray it until i fall asleep. Our Lady said that the Rosary was to be our weapon agianst evil, and anything that we ask for she will do. There is nothing the Rosary can not solve. I also wear the Brown Scapular always as a sign of devotion to our Lady. It real times of trouble call on St. Michael the Archangel... The demon slayer him self. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host - by the Divine Power of God - cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Quietfire
There are those who are spiritually closer to God and because of this seem to always experience some kind of demonic tribulation. There are books on saints who have had experiences such as yours. Remember one thing. God is stronger than satan. In other words... Our Father can kick their butt. a little levity. jezic
Holy water, have your room blessed by a priest, keep a rosary in your pocket. Add images of Jesus all over the place, understand that God is in control. Pray to realize that God is the victor. He wins. satan looses. That is the whole story. Call upon God in times of distress and allow him to carry you.

Christie_M
I have felt VERY close too God and especially Mary, yes. Sometimes I feel her hand resting on my shoulder at mass. It sounds weird I know...but Im not happier anywhere else then in my beautiful church where I can feel them right beside me! Its awesome! Even while I think about it, it has a wonderful effect. But I only became like this this year!
ME TOO! After I recive the Holy Communion, I start to cry as I pray. I also cry after(and sometimes during) confession. and don't worry, I have the same feelings as you, Kristina. I got a rosary ring blessed by the pope 2 weeks ago by a friend that went to roam. I wear it around my neack with my St. Therese the Little Flower, St. Benedict, and the Sacread Heart of Jesus. I useualy hold my scapular and medles(rosary too) in my hand while I sleep. and when I feel scared, (like walking in the dark) I hold them and say that "Jesus is with me and I am safe." And you know what helped me the most?? I read "The Life of a Soul." St. Therese's Autobiogrophy. I'm not sure what chapter it's in, but she said that the face of a little child scears a demon. Praying to the saints that some of the PMer's have given, will also help. : and don't watch movies with demons and stuff. that will help a BUNCH! (I'm not saying don't watch the Passion though. ) Hope this will be usefull. ~Christie
