Ora et Labora

What can I do to lesson my extreme fright of demons?? I began to be terrified after I watched the passion. Sometimes at night I feel I can almost see them. Its aweful. Should I just pray?

:sadder:

Hi,

I have this problem as well.

Mother Angelica says if you are afraid to just ask Jesus to be there with you and hold your hand.

Demons can not read your thoughts.

I always keep my blessed rosary near by, and some Holy Water would be good as well.

Satan wants you to think that. He is the master of Lies. He wants you to live in fear of an attack, like a terrorist.

I am actually going to be taking a class (not at the seminary, unfortunately) on "spiritual warfare," ie: binding prayers, etc.

My recommendation is to, as sam said, keep a rosary nearby. Also, bless your room with Holy Water, and if you feel it get very intense call upon the name of "Jesus," just uttering His name has great power, especially with regard to this, "every knee shall bow, in the heaven, on the earth, and under the earth" Also, something St. Pio was a strong advocate of, especially since he was physically attacked by demons, call upon your guardian angel for assistance, and St. Michael, the Archangel. The angels are there to help us, don't forget about them.

Just remember though, you have nothing to fear, for all demons are subject to Christ, and if you call upon His name, it is akin to pulling out a golden sword.

God Bless

Thank you. THen why does God allow it?

This had happened several times where it became severe. I had my rosary. :) And I did utter Jesues several times. I will keep the angels in mind as well.

Keep in mind also that we are surrounded by what St. Paul calls in Hebrews a "great cloud of witnesses". All the Saints, all the Angels, and God himself live in our hearts. Not as a symbol, but as a real presence of the Kingdom. Always trust in that presence.

Perhaps you are more sensitive to the spiritual world. Some people are more sensitive than others, and will experience that more intensely than others, both the good and the bad. I am willing to bet, if you are experiencing such things, you have also had some very good spiritual experiences as well, haven't you?

I have felt VERY close too God and especially Mary, yes. :)

Sometimes I feel her hand resting on my shoulder at mass. It sounds weird I know...but Im not happier anywhere else then in my beautiful church where I can feel them right beside me!

Its awesome! Even while I think about it, it has a wonderful effect. But I only became like this this year!

Im serious though...its aweful when I feel it. The worst fear I have felt. It frightens me to the point where I just want to die.

and Im scared that I avoid sin so I dont go to hell I am so frightened instead of because I want to please the Lord.

Thats imperfect contrition, right?

See, the thing is, when you have these experiences and they draw you closer to God, it does not go unnoticed by the enemies of God, because the last thing they want is for you to be close to Him. So, in a sense, "it goes with the territory." I would not say it happens to everyone, but these things do happen, and they are a reality. The spiritual world is just as real as this world, just because we don't see it, does not mean it does not exist.
