Khet
I used to go about once every 2 years, but for the last few years i'ts been every other week. I have a hard time going longer than two weeks these days. Who would have thought it would be such a powerful sacrament? Janana8706
i go at lent and advent, it depends the priest, cuz we go thru school, and they have diff. area priests each day so that all the classes can go.
cathgirl
i'm gonna start going once a month, because that is what Mary said in Medugorje, and if mary said it, then Jesus told her to tell the visionaries. I wish I would do more of everything that Mary said in Medjugorje. (In fact even Joan of Arc went as often as she could for every little thing and I'm sure she wasn't half the sinner I am!) I don't go to confession nearly as often as i should. Once or twice a year which is terrible! Our parish only has it on Saturdays all year and Fridays during Lent. I have a pretty big family and by the time we get ready to go to church, confessions done. I guess if there's a will there's a way, but it doesn't seem like anyone else in my family cares enough about it to really want to make it. Thanx for bringing up this topic, I hadn't really thought about it enough before. God Bless!! Karmen
Sinner
I go weekly ....... at least. Two times a month with my Spiritual Director. I LOVE THIS SACRAMENT~~!!!!!!!! I went 13 yrs w/o going and was guilty of all kinds of mortal sins..... then one day I was heading to work and remembered they had announced a healing mass at 8 am on a Monday... I went there instead. It was beautiful...I went to Confession after...that is when my healing of all sorts of pbms, addictions, guilt, anger, etc. etc. etc. began to go away. I prefer the screen, on my knees... it doesn't matter if they know me or not. DID I MENTION........I LOVE THIS SACRAMENT!!!!!!!!
immaculata
I try to go at least once a month- we're blessed to have the opportunity for confession every Wednesday at school. I don't take advantage of it as often as I should. Sometimes I feel like I'm not completely ready to be truly contrite for my sins. I try to make a GOOD examination of conscience before I go. Carrie
I go every 2 weeks, but I don't go to my parish priest. He holds confession face to face, which makes me uncomfortable. So I confess behind the screen at another nearby parish.
Sojourner
I want to go, but have to wait until this spring, I think. I like confession. Very good for the soul.
cathgirl
we're blessed to have the opportunity for confession every Wednesday at school. I wish I went to a Catholic school so badly!! I have so many Protestants ( I'm not saying that they are bad, but most of them at my school don't even try to understand what Catholics believe) at my school. UGH! Confession is such a beautiful sacrament. I don't cry very often but once I go into Confession I can't help myself.
God Conquers
I end up going once every two weeks or so, variable between wanting and needing to go. I also prefer the screen, on my knees. I don't care which priest it is, I'll even grab'em before mass.
MrsFrozen
I also love Confession. I get all nervous and worked up before I go, and then I just say everything, and afterwards I feel like a whole new person. It makes me feel very good. God bless! :)
CatholicAndFanatical
I go every week, there has been a few times I waited a few weeks if not a month before going, but normally every week. I go to my Parish Priest, or any Priest really. Like God Conquers, I either grab a Priest before Mass, or go off looking for one. I do what I have to in order to recieve Christ at Mass..I feel so incomplete if I dont get to recieve Him at Mass. I love Confession and the Eucharist!!! Isnt God amesome :D God Bless CatholicAndFanatical
Birgitta Noel
I said more than 12, but that probably varies in any twelve month period! Some months I need it more than ever! I LOVE going to confession (even if I'm not wanting to go before I always end up with a big grin on my face afterwards!). I don't have a set schedule, but my soul seems to prod me when I need to go. I just have a feeling of separation from Him. Not the mortal sin kinda separation, but just like there's something between us that's not right, that's not as good as it could be! Fr. said to me once after confession on Divine Mercy Sunday, "If only you could see your soul as God sees it. How beautiful it is!" :rolling: I usually go face to face to my spiritual director who is also our priest. I used to go behind the screen, but since I know Fr. Antoine so well that would be weird. And he'd know my voice, I can just see him if I went behind the screen thinking, "Who does she think she's fooling?!" Not that he'd be thinking about that, but still I have a dear friend who just went after a long time of not going and she was worried that Fr. would be shocked at what she had to tell him. I told her that he wouldn't be, but that if he was it was because he cared about her and wanted what was best for her and was expressing concern. Sometimes it's hard to see this sort of concern if you don't know the priest very well so if it's at all possible I strongly recommend having a regular confessor/spiritual director! It's ok to be uncomfortable with certain priests, there are some that I wouldn't go to confession to given a choice. But if it came down to going or not, I'd go rather than miss out on the grace etc. As for being embarrased about going to a particular priest, it is a great lesson in humility. And I've heard that God gives special graces to priests to help them forget what they've heard. Also, a priest told me once that they are humbled by the courage and humility that penitents have coming to confession when they are confessing big (or even little) sins! Ok, I must be in bed now or I'll never get up! God Bless! Birgitta
Birgitta Noel
And one more thing! If you say the worst/hardest thing first, it's all down hill from there! :-D In Mary, Birgitta
