The unborn did not die for any ideal. I mean no disrespect to the dead unborn, but simply being a murder victim does not automatically make one a martyr. This cheapens the true meaning of martyrdom. Paphnutius
The unborn did not die for any ideal.
I meant to imply that it goes beyoned just faith. From New Advent
a martyr, or witness of Christ, is a person who, though he has never seen nor heard the Divine Founder of the Church, is yet so firmly convinced of the truths of the Christian religion, that he gladly suffers death rather than deny it.
Also from Outlines of Moral Theology, by Fr. Francis J. Connell
Martyrdom- It is the willing and nonresistant acceptance of death or of physical injuries capable of causing death which are inflicted out of hatred for Christ or for some Christian virtue. The supreme act of the virtue of fortitude is martyrdom.
That is my paraphrase of it. I am not arguing that they are, but your definition was limited.
