franciscanheart
Okay so I'm looking to find the most popular praise and worship songs. All you have to do is list your favorites. It doesn't matter if they're repeated -- in fact it's better if they are so I get a feel for (duh) the most popular. Thanks for your help! btw -- this is to help out the music ministry for our youth group.

Theologian in Training
This may be a stupid question, but what delineates a Praise and Worship song from a Christian song? Is Jars of Clay considered Praise and Worship, or Newsboys. Don't mean to hijack your thread, just curious. God Bless
shortnun
Some of these songs are repeats (for the benefit of Hughey), and some of them have a little bit of a Protestant flare to them. I've worked at a Lutheran camp for many years now, and they set the "Praise and Worship" bar pretty high for us Catholics.... Amazing Grace (to the tune of Gilligan's Island (yes, it works perfectly), or sung in rounds) Light The Fire Shout To The Lord Lord, I lift your name on high The Heart of Worship Trading my Sorrows As the Deer Free (I stand at the tomb) Breathe I am a C, I am a C-H What if Cartoons got saved? Sanctuary Lord of the Dance I just wanna be a sheep In the light Step by Step (the song, not the tv show) He is Exalted O God You Are My God Open the Eyes of My Heart There are way more, buuuuut I don't have my songbook in front of me at the moment. So I may have to add a few more songs in later on. : *walks off whistling and in a GREAT mood* Edited January 16, 2006 by shortnun
photosynthesis
shortnun, did your kids ever sing "the happy song"?
This may be a stupid question, but what delineates a Praise and Worship song from a Christian song? God Bless
well, I'd say that Praise + Worship songs tend to be more like hymns, with a focus being something that a large number of people can relate to. Whereas Christian pop songs tend to focus more on individual musings... although i suppose that's how I think it should be. The Christian fellowship group I used to go to when I was in college used to sing Christian pop songs during P+W sometimes and it used to tick me off.
