Corrupt Popes

as for corrupt popes, i'm taking "Historical Foundations" right now, so i'll mention the popes in question as we come across them.

When you say Brown, are you referring to -gasp!- Dan Brown, author of the Da Vinci Code?

If so, what kind of perspective could he possibly have? Anything marked "gospel" is to be taken seriously? YIKES!

for real? he's a catholic bible scholar, one of the most popular ones from the last half of the 20th century, very influential on how catholic bible scholars interpreted the bible in the 50's and 60's. his Jerome Biblical Commentary and New Jerome Biblical Commentary are monumental works. check the links in this entry for criticism of his methodology:
