Do people just not like me, or am I not clear enough?

If you want to debate the man, go to debate - this thread is not about his orthodoxy. Please read my previous posts before I start getting delete happy.

Geez. You try to be a friendly mod.

^ agreed.

A person's views/beliefs affect who they are, and how they act. Bishop Gumbleton's "coming out" (as it were) with this information in this manner could legitimately be argued as propaganda for his questionable statements regarding the Church. IF what the Bishop told the Post was true, then that's sad, yes, but his manner of relaying this information to the public seems somewhat suspect.

However, if Azriel, you still think this is more of a debate table topic, then I will refrain from further posting until the thread is moved to its proper forum.

Either way, this Bishop (and all Bishops, really) are in need of our prayers.

It is horrible when something like this happens, but I think repealing Ohio laws restricting people from sueing the Church would definately be a bad thing.

Not if it reverses the whalloping we've been getting in the public media all these years about coverups. Maybe now the bishops will get some of the "sympathy factor".

Members of the Church who are guilty of these crimes will either have to pay now in lawsuits or pay later in purgatory.

The members of the Church who committed these crimes are not paying. The recent push for amendments would allow people to sue the Diocese (collection money) for things that happened up to 50 years ago. Many of the priests who committed these crimes are dead. All that would result is our Diocese closing even more schools and parishes.
