Very little. I respect his office, but his heterodox views do not merit my assent nor do they merit my advocacy.

My quote.

Don't start trolling me......that is not what I am doing at all.....what I am doing is pointing to inconsistency. This is not the debate table, I am entitled to express my opinion here.

I am not looking for a fight. I am simply offering an alternative point of view.

Is it possible for you to leave anything to be? Just curious.

Lets do this, k?

Lets reserve this thread for the discussion of the Bishop's revelation, and if you'd like to discuss his views, right/wrong or indifferent - take it over to debate ... K?

k?

Ok.

Yeah.

Here's one of the things I found with my google.

The bishop uses a very skillful 'neutral' type of language.; ie; he does not disagree with church teachings, he is uncomfortable.

I can understand Cam's point of view; some of what he says makes you scratch your head and wonder what is meant or underlined in his statements.

I would respect any person of the clergy, but will hold to the teachings of the magisterium and the church above all of them.
(long live the Papa!)

I was however unsucessful in my search in finding 'theological based' proof on his behalf that homosexuality is not a sin; however I did not find any explicit statement from himself saying that homosexuality is a sin (hence the 'softness' of his language, the papparent 'neutrality' of his position. He is obviously being very careful of his statements).

I will however say this; he seems to be reaching out in a genuine effort towards those afflicted with SSA with compassion and understanding. Though his views might not be in accordance with the church, his intent does seem genuinely charitable.

I think he might be in need of correction, though not discipline; fortunately, this area of decision relies amongst people of greater knowledge and faith than myself.

No worries! I just feel that this thread was not opened to debate the Bishop's orthodoxy - but to discuss his personal revelation.

I assume to believe it is true, because that is a lot of pain to put out there in the open.

I'm not for stifling anyone's opinion, I just think it should be done in the proper place.

Tanks. :)

photosynthesis

Sometimes people who have been abused in their childhood end up identifying with the homosexual movement and/or lifestyle. Abuse and homosexuality just seem to feed off one another.
Again, I live in the archdiocese and this seems to me to be a bit strange.  Why go to "the Post?"  Why not go to "The Detroit News and Free Press?"  It smacks of sensationalism and if something actually comes out of this I will be suprised.  But based upon the history I have provided, I think that Bishop Gumbleton is simply promoting his own agenda in some form or another.

That's exactly what I was wondering.
the liturgy began with a procession to the sanctuary in which the Bishop wore a mitre embroidered with a pink triangle and rainbow colors, which was a gift from the CPCSM leadership.
Now THAT is just appalling.
