scardella
1. Are you in major debt? 'cause that certainly adds to the stress. 2. Are your parents the type to throw you out or let you stay as long as you need? 3. What are you interested in?
Sojourner
You could temp for a while, you'd have money....
I did that for about six months right out of college until I found a reporting job. I would have gotten a job out of the temping in marketing/PR too had I not wanted to go into journalism.

Not at the moment, although if I stay unemployed I'd imagine I'd rack up some debt. 2. Well, seeing that my mom lives with HER mom, I think they're more inclined to not want me to move out. 3. see, this is the hard part. I'm having trouble figuring that out. stargirl3:16
I think that FOCUS might be good for you. As for being too cynical, remember that it takes all kinds of people to reach others. Odds are, your experiences could be helpful to someone else.

Now I've dropping out of school and focusing on the finer things in life. Thanks Focus!"

That's certainly an idea... although I'm not sure if I'd want to go into Catholic journalism in the beginning of the career. To put it bluntly, secular media has more money, more talent and better technology. If I spend a few years learning from "la creme de la creme," I can help the Church more. It's kind of like... if I had to do a medical residency at St. Peter's Hospital, which is orthodox Catholic, or Johns Hopkins... I have to say I'd pick Johns Hopkins. Catholic journalism is something I want to do eventually. My dream job is being a Vatican correspondent. and as far as relocation goes, I'm a city girl so I probably would want to stay away from the long expanses of undeveloped land. journeyman
Once upon a time . . . journalists didn't start at the "big" papers, they started at small dailies or weeklies . . . and once they learned the trade and established a reputation, moved up . . . of course, that was back before they started teaching journalism in school . . . You might give it a shot as a "time filler" while you look for full-time employment . . . If you like it, you may never leave . . . or you may become the religion reporter for the Times . . . benefit number one, your Mom won't be wondering why you're hanging around the house
photosynthesis
well, I definitely wouldn't want to start out at the Times... there is a lot to be said for starting out at a small paper in the middle of nowhere where you're allowed to make mistakes. Although when you start out as an entry level person at a large publication/news station you're usually so small and insignificant that it functions the same way. Recently I just found out about an opening @ cbs, which was where I interned so I'm trying to talk to my old supervisor about whether the rumor is true or not pray that it works out (if that's what God wants)
Old_Joe
Try being an employed bum. Now THAT'S tricky.
photosynthesis
LOL!!! I'll have to work really hard to achieve that! I think that if my doggie had any say in what I do with my life, that's what he would want because when I'm home all day then he gets about 10 walks around the block, compared to when he's home with just my grandma. Grandma is too infirm to go out and walk him so she just lets him out in the backyard every so often.
