photosynthesis
I just hope they don't stick a planned parenthood ad on you or something like that... or would you have control over such matters?
sometimes Google ads do that... I remember being at some website about Theology of the Body and it had Google ads... the ads weren't too family friendly, if you know what I mean. dUSt
I just hope they don't stick a planned parenthood ad on you or something like that... or would you have control over such matters?
Well, I looked into it and it says that all of the ads are family friendly, and you have the option of blocking specific advertisers if you want. I don't know. Phatmass has been ad-free since it started 5 years ago and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm optimistic that a few more people will sign up for monthly donations, so we won't even have to worry about it.
Birgitta Noel
I love that PM is ad free. And yes, I do contribute monthly. A little monthy contribution goes a long way. I do mine via paypal, that way I don't forget and I don't miss it. I say this not to toot my horn, I'd rather not tell that I do it, but if it gets more folks to sign up.... Tata126
I don't think banner ads are that distracting at all. You usually end up scrolling down to read the discussion anyway. But I like the idea of ads for people who don't donate, and no ads for people who do. Or maybe temporary ads with an announcement that when you get enough donations, the ads will go away. photosynthesis
if they were at the very top of the page that would be super annoying, but i think if youput them on the side (like below the radio) that would'nt be much to deal with
jezic
I think that if you found some solid ones it would be all right. Like if there were Catholic things. There are some websites that do very well with things like that and it ends up working out great. Personally i would probably do a trial run or something, see if it works out before you decide for good.
prose
I tried to donate through PayPal a while back, but it didn't work unless I went monthly, I was just going to give one lump sum. Maybe there was a paypal problem?

God the Father
If you start running out of money, Google ads are fine. (If I'm not mistaken) Google ads are plain white with blue and gray text, in little boxes at the top or bottom of the page. They don't flash colors, don't pop up, and aren't for the most part annoying. I really hardly notice them.
Church Punk
I think we should all start chipping in then maybe you wont have to get the ads and then it would be all profit. Also do you get any kick back from referancing Amazon.com to purchase the books?
