Canadian republican :P: bah! I dont like the Windsor's much but the monarchy as an institution of the British state is one of the jewels of this country. It is the foundation of our uncodified constitution and harkens back to the days when the people of this country were tied together by the bonds of feudal kinship. A time wherein, if certain Chivalric ideals were never truly realised, they were at least valued rather than in the individualistic society created by the enlightenment project and its insistence on rights (often in spite of responsibilities).
