And that right there is why I love StarTrek. Startrek, Startrek:TNG, and Startrek:DS9 all gave a lot of effort into the question of humanity, where we are going, and what's wrong with us. Voyager didn't quite capture it I don't think, and Enterprise haha, no comment.

But, I am a Republican Evangelical. Although I've been considering leaving the GOP for the Green Party for some time now. So as you can see I am not conservative in fiscal/economic matters. I find it extremely difficult to join the Democrats however as Demo vs Repub is so largely pro-abortion vs anti-abortion and pro-liberal religious agenda vs anti-liberal agenda.

The Green Party is also solidly pro-abortion and "socially" liberal (as much or more so than the Dems.)

Yeah, I know, but I'm somewhat of a softie on the social liberal stuff, and in my own upbringing the green party is less branded as pro-abortion than the democrats are. I also have a bit of a green thumb. In Genesis we were commanded to care for the earth and we still have that responsibility. Republicans all too often seem to have no concern at all for it. One of my friends has been a good example of this by saying, "burn the trees down, this world is damned anyway".

I'm afraid the Greens have only been less "branded" as pro-abortion than the Dems because (unlike the Dems) they have never actually held political power in this country.

Greens are essentially statist socialists, and if in power, would be disasterous for the country morally and economically.
