you can still non-actively observe- like you would if you went to a protestant church for a relative's funeral, etc. i love going to the divine liturgy and great vespers at the orthodox which are 3 minutes away from me= beautiful! qfnol31
I would not feel comfortable public praying or praticipating in schismatic worship, but i would observe it.
I can understand this, but they actually use ancient prayers written before the schism in the East. I went just to look one time, when nothing was going on... it was like stepping into a church in Europe. One of the coolest churches I have been to in America. Piccoli Fiori JMJ
I was just at a Greek Catholic Christmas Mass in Kiev today and we stood during the nearly 3 hour Liturgy. It was in the Church Slavonic and we had some English/Slavonic 'missals' to help through... (This was at a Basilian Monastery as well with I think the Archbishop presiding as well) It was wonderful and total amazing. There was an opportunity to venerate an icon of the nativity after the Liturgy, but it was wonderful. I did not get a chance to recieve communion because the church was so packed! And people just kept coming in through out all of the Liturgy. I just thought I would just share my experience today.

They're Greek. : Actually, I've not been there, but I'll have to ask my Orthodox friend. He goes to Divine Liturgy at the ROCOR church in Dallas.
