Ok, this is all basically speculation, but I'm gonna ask it anyways and see what the ideas are. Did Mary have a(or more than one) guardian angel(s)? Did Jesus? Would His have been the one that consoled Him in the Guarden? If so, then can't we pray to the guardian angel of Mary/Jesus?

in one book called, "Mary Meditations" that my great-aunt, whos also a nun. gave us this book focused on Mary. it goes through what she went through and though i haven't read it yet, my sister and my parents have read it and really like it.

but what im trying to say is that my sister says in that book it describes mary as having alot of angels around her, all the time, ever since she was little.

i will try and get my sister to post it.

and no, its not tina im talking about, its my other sister.

shes a lurker here. -_-

Mary's Knight, La

Considering she received the grace to stay free from sin I would think she had to have lots of angels clearing the way for her.... once she had Christ within her body..... i know in human terms an honor guard consists at least of four... so.... an honor guard for God....

I'd like to help answer the question about whether Jesus and Mary had guardian angels. I strongly recommend an amesome book by Sr. Mary of Agreda, now Venerable Mary of Agreda, called City of God (not to be confused with St. Augustine's City of God) . The original book is called The Divine History and Life of the Virgin Mother of God, so the City of God is the popular abridgement. The info I'm posting is kinda lengthy but I think you'll enjoy it.

In this book, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Ven. Mary of Agreda and manifested in great detail all the events of her life and the life of Jesus. The book begins with the explanation of what actually happened in the beginning with the fall of the angels all the way to the end of her own life to her own Coronation in heaven. It is such a cool book! This book is mainly meant to help us get a better understanding of the lives of Jesus and Mary and love them more.

Here's what some of the City of God says about the guardian angels of Jesus and Mary:

Mary-

About the preparation and creation of Mary:

~ "Then the Most High chose and appointed those who were to be occupied in this exalted service (the guardianship of Mary) from each of the nine choirs of angels. He selected one hundred, being nine hundred in all. Moreover he assigned twelve others who should in a special manner assist Mary in corporeal and visible form...Besides these the Lord assigned eighteen other angels, selected from the highest ranks...In addition to all these holy angels the Almighty assigned and appointed seventy seraphim, choosing them from the highest ranks and from those nearest to the Divinity...saint Michael, the prince of the heavenly militia was placed at their head...In a like manner the holy prince Gabriel was appointed to act as legate and minister of the eternal Father in the affairs of the Princess of heaven..."

~ "A thousand angels were equipped for her guard and custody, that they might serve as most faithful vassals of their Queen and Lady" (75)

~ "The thousand angels appointed as guardians of the great Queen offered themselves and dedicated themselves to her service" (89).

~ When Jesus was already in Mary's womb, as she and Joseph travelled to visit her cousin Elisabeth: "They proceeded alone, without accompaniment of any human creatures; but all the thousand angels...attended upon them"(242).

Jesus-

At the birth of Jesus:

~ "Innumerable angels desceded in human forms from on high...The holy angels divided into two choirs in the cave, keeping their gaze fixed upon the King and Lord in the arms of his virginal Mother. The chiefs of these heavenly cohorts were the two princes, saint Michael and saint Gabriel" (326-27)

~When the 3 Magi Kings visited Jesus, they were allowed to see angels:

"They perceived the multitude of angelic spirits, who as servants and ministers of the King of kings and Lord of lords attended upon him in reverential fear"(335)

~Soon after the Holy Family's departure of Bethlehem to the Presentation of Jesus, the angels followed them:

"The holy angels, who had come with them from Bethlehem, again formed in procession in corporeal and most beautiful forms...On this occasion however the holy spirits added many other hymns...in honor of the infant God, which were heard only by the most pure Mary. Besides the ten thousand, who had formed the procession the previous day, innumerable others descended from heaven, who, accompanied by those that bore the shields of the holy name of Jesus, formed the guard of honor of the incarnate Word on the occasion of his presentation...only the heavenly Princess perceived their presence."(344-45)

has anyone ever heard that the Holy Spirit is considered to be the guardian angel of Jesus. i mean, i would say ALL the angels were His body guards, remember when He said if He needed to He could have legions of angels fighting to keep Him out of the hands of the Romans? but the ONE guardian angel that does what a guardian angel does, to light and rule, to guard and guide, couldn't have been a mere regular angel, for Jesus was God. No angel could rule and guide over God Himself. So the Holy SPirit is Jesus' special guardian angel, even though i'm sure every angel in heaven was guardin Him, ministering to Him when he needed it, and so on. but there's a special guardian angel for everyone. One angel who klings to you your whole life and you get to meet in Heaven. And the one special guardian angel of Jesus is said to have been the Holy Spirit. i'm not sure where it's been said, but it's been said and i think it's kewl ^_^ ;)

anyway, maybe Mary's special guardian angel was the Archangel Gabriel. SHe seems important enough to merit the special guard of an Archangel.
