qfnol31
How come ya'll don't have a youth director over there?
franciscanheart
Our youth director left. He quit in the middle of advent. Since he left our priest that says the youth Mass has been taking over for him. With little control over the group, or even his own daughter, we have run into a lot of problems. He has applied for the position but I fear for the lack of orthodoxy. Right now nothing is official and we have no real youth minister. It seems the trend to lose our youth ministers after three years. We drive them nuts I think. edit to add: and no most of them have not heard it before. i am trying really hard to work it out so that we can be at youth 2000 in the next couple of months (for the one in fort worth) but we'll see what happens. iheartjp2
I LOVE that song. At my parish, when we have exposition of the blessed sacrament at our youth group after mass on Sunday, or any other time, we sing that song.
journeyman
The linked version is lovely . . . and very reverent . . . I wish I knew more about liturgical music, and could get our parish choir to take that on
franciscanheart
i didnt really want to start a whole new thread about this but #1 we had a huge turnout for youth night tonight (and youth mass). i think it might be one of the biggest general crowds since the beginning of our program six years ago. we had a total of 36 kids, not including those of us who still look like kids. it was awesome. and #2 if next week we have a big turnout again my director wants me to play this song for them during Mass after communion... he thinks i should introduce it to them but not like throw it in their face. and then maybe theyll ask about it and it would be a good way to bring up youth 2000 and rally some support. he also suggested it for lent. im exited.
