shortnun
I always thought a flu lasted longer, felt worse, and was accompanied by a fever for a longer time.
homeschoolmom
In my opinion, flu is achy, feverish, tired.... maybe congestion. Colds are runny and/or stuffy noses, sneezing...
Anastasia13
Does a sore throat and cough come into the matter of which is which? What if one has a subnormal temperature?
Sojourner
Temperature is generally the distinguishing factor. You never have a fever with a cold. Which is why it's called a "cold."
homeschoolmom
And anything gastro-intestinal is NOT, technically "flu"...

Also, are you anti cough drop? Menthol lyptus is like a miracle drug. And, the saltwater gargle can work if you do it every two to three hours. I hope you don't get a sore throat. I'll probably get a sore throat in the next 3 to 4 months or so. I always get sick in spring.
philothea
A sore throat like that is often the first stage of a cold or a flu. You'll have to see what it turns into to tell which it is.
