Sojourner
My boss brought her dog by the office today. Samson is 8 mos. old now, and weighs in at 70 lbs. He's part Rottweiler and part Newfie, so he's probably not done growing yet. Several of us went out to say hi to Samson, and one woman let him lick her all over the face. Lots of slobber. Now, I love dogs. Would like to own one someday when I'm not living in a rental. But I am not a big fan of having a dog lick my face. My aunt used to let her dog lick her feet ... I couldn't do that because mine are too ticklish. Plus that's just gross. I'll allow a little hand-licking, but that's about it. Anyone else have strong dog-lick preferences? shortnun
My dog used to wake me up by licking my feet. I'm also pretty much the only one who lets him lick me all over... the rest of my family is anti-licking. Buuuut the vet said we can't let him lick people (or let him lick himself) because he has a teeth/gum problem. He's old and adorable, but his teeth are falling out and kinda gross. Buuuuuut I love him anyway. When I see other dogs I'm comfortable with, I'm okay with having them lick me. But if my dog was licking someone else, I would ask him to stop, lest I make the other person feel uncomfortable.

I like being kissed, just not by a dog.
Tata126
I've had a little tiny dog since I was 10, and her tongue is very very small...now I have a big dog who produces a significant amount of slobber, and I'm sort of not a fan of having to dry my hand off on a towel after it's been licked. homeschoolmom
It's not so much the slobber as much as it is the fact that dogs do not use toilet paper.
Norseman82
Two rules of thumb: 1) As long as the dog knows when to come up for air (I have a cocker spaniel that sometimes will NOT stop licking my face) 2) It all depends what they were licking previously

I mean, dogs are known for certain behaviors (which will not be detailed here) so I always assume that at some point in the not-too-distant past any dog has been licking something unsavory.
