Hostile

anyone heard of it. It's Quentin Tarantino's newest. From what I hear it's supposed to be one of the scariest movies. People supposedly have passed out and such from watching it. It's about this group of kids that go to russia or somewhere (I don't have the details down yet, look it up) to a hostile camp there run by mafia. They go there to pay to know what it's like to be tortured and to kill and such. There are more details of course, but I don't know them all yet. I saw a clip the other night and it looks creepy.

This is the synopsis from rottentomatoes.com

Internationally renowned filmmaker Quentin Tarantino presents Eli Roth's HOSTEL, the follow-up to the writer-director's hit debut, 2002's CABIN FEVER. More grisly than Roth's feature bow, HOSTEL is a mixture of many of the most terrifying things about human nature and the world at large, culled from many impossible-but-true stories of human trafficking, international organized crime, and sex tourism. Relentlessly graphic and deeply disturbing, the film is sure to shock even the most hard core genre fans.

HOSTEL tells the story of two adventurous American college buddies Paxton and Josh who backpack through Europe eager to make quintessentially hazy travel memories with new friend Oli, an Icelander they've met along the way.

Paxton and Josh are eventually lured by a fellow traveler to what's described as a nirvana for American backpackers - a particular hostel in an out-of-the-way Slovakian town stocked with Eastern European women as desperate as they are gorgeous. The two friends arrive and soon easily pair off with exotic beauties Natalya and Svetlana. In fact, too easily…

Initially distracted by the good time they're having, the two Americans quickly find themselves trapped in an increasingly sinister situation that they will discover is as wide and as deep as the darkest, sickest recess of human nature itself - if they survive.

It got good reviews so far 9/10 with about only 10 reviews out on the site.

I am not a fan of gory films. I do enjoy a good scare. I haven't been scared in a long time.

Maybe...just maybe.

Why would anyone want to subject themselves to witinessing the sickest recesses of human nature? I dont understand how seeing someone treart a human being like a peice of meat. Seeing a movie about torturing people for fun seems to feed a sort of sick desire, kind of like pornagraphy. You see a violent movie, then they have to make a movie more violent. I saw trailers for this movie, and I cant imagine how movies will get more violent then this. It started with war films, people dying for their country, now its just killing people for the sake of killing and seeing someone suffer as much as possible. Whats next? Snuff films go mainstream?

Agreed. I hate movies like Saw. Seeing people in desparate situations committing violence on themselves is not entertainment.

This might be good, but by the looks of it...it isn't.

Seriously, I never thought gore was that scary, just sickening. Slasher films have gore for the humor of it (I don't get it though).

He was getting tortured and killed because it was the only way for mankinds salvation. Hostile is just murder to satiate a sick desire for violence.

That wasn't entertainment. This movie is attempting to call this entertainment.
