Katt1227
Blazer- You are right. We can never forget those moments we when experienced the Infinite, and we can never stop looking for Him to reveal Himself again. I pray every morning that I will see Him, that my "I" will be exalted, that my heart will leap. And while the stress of work and school and other things tend to be blinders on my eyes, and keep my heart from leaping, many times I am amazed by the things that I experience that make my heart leap for joy. Whether it be an email from a friend, a smile from a stranger as I walk through campus, a chance encounter with someone that is unexpected, a hug, laughter, singing, all of these are embraces, Infinite embraces, that make my heart leap. It is the memory of these embraces that keep us from slipping into the nothingness of daily life.
BLAZEr
It is the memory of these embraces that keep us from slipping into the nothingness of daily life. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Because that is the most horrible fear I have. To slip into the nothingness of daily life. To buy into the ideology of America that says "Just work and make money and don't ask yourself about happiness and truth and love. Just do what you have to do and then go drink a beer or watch TV and then start it all again tomorrow."

phatcatholic
woh.............um............i think i just saw this thread fly right over my head. vrooooomm!! man, i honestly have no clue what you all are talking about. what is CL? what is School of Community? wow, this whole thread is so completely foreign to me that i don't even know the right questions to ask. this whole "i" thing is Catholic? it sounds so New-Agey. what is a "responsible"? you guys were sounding really cultish, the way you knew each others communities and the people who led them. where is this in the Bible or the Tradition of the Church? shew, this is freakin me out. now i know how pagans feel when they first learn about Jesus. maybe i need to go to bed (it is 3am afterall). hopefully, if i read this thread again in the morning it will make more sense. help me out pham, i'm lost.... phatcatholic ps: btw, i heard Evansville, IN mentioned. i'm fron Owensboro, KY which is basically right across the Ohio river from there (for what that's worth)
BLAZEr
So Phatcatholic, then you can meet CL and see that we are way too unorganized to be a cult! I'm gonna bump the thread on Communion and Liberation and the School of Community up so you can learn what we are. Peace! And by the way, Hyper . . . the book is "The Religious Sense" by Msgr. Luigi Giussani it is the first in a series of three books. Book Two is "At the Origin of the Christian Claim" and book three is "Why the Church?" emalouhow
Don't worry Phatcatholic....CL is totally Catholic. It is a movement within the Church and it has the Pope's fullest blessing. In fact, Luigi Giussani, the founder of CL, is close friends with the Pope. Many of their writings sounds very similar. If you want check out the monthly magazine: Traces And here's the website for the movement: CL Homepage :D

gunz25
Whoa...CL-ers come out of the dust for this post! This is a beautiful post because its answering questions that I ask myself everyday about my desires. Like you Katt1227 (this is Erica, by the way) I beg Christ everyday to show Himself to me through my experiences. In the darkness of nothingness...when you are feeling really blah, lazy, unmotivated...I need that Presence more than anything! Phatcatholic...don't worry...I felt it was kind of "cultish" when I first met the members of the Evansville CL. But I saw something within their friendship that I wanted for myself and I just couldn't turn away. Go to that website provided by Emalouhow and see if you can find some answers. If not, COME AND SEE for yourself what the charism is all about! CL Evansville meets every Monday night at Sacred Heart Parish at 6:30pm...You are more than welcome to join us and listen in to the discussions of all this weird vocabulary like exalting the "I", desire, belonging, nothingness, etc. (That invitation doesn't just go out to Phatcatholic...all are welcome...So if you live in the E-ville area, or you will just happen to pass through southern Indiana on a Monday night...PLEASE COME AND SEE!!) :D
BLAZEr
Cool, yeah, great idea. If you live in the HOUSTON area, we meet at St. Rose of Lima Parish at 7:30 PM every Wednesday (however, next week is our Christmas party and its not at St. Rose.) Come and see what CL is all about. Katt1227
Hyperdulia... don't worry, the website confuses me too, and I've been involved with CL for over a year. And, yes, it does seem cultish, but that's because it's difficult to explain in words what the movement is. You have to experience it, in the flesh. That's what I found. You have to experience the friendship through some person (or group of people) to begin to understand what CL is all about. The website, the books, Traces, give you a start. They are a beginning. I listened to people talk about CL, and I watched the friends from the Evansville Community from outside of the movement. I saw Something in their friendship that exalted my "I", before I even knew what that meant. This intrigued me, so I came and saw. And now I stay with them (even from 200 miles away). So, for Phatcatholic (and any others) if you are intrigued by what you read here, or by people you have met.... come and see. On the website there are listed local contacts for all the communities (although I'm not sure exactly where). Find out if there is a community near you to "come and see". DesiringMore
Definitely "Come and See"!!! Be open to experiencing what Christ has to offer you! Experience the Presence in others!
DesiringMore
So, would anyone like to share how they were a Presence to someone today or someone was a Presence to them? How was your "I" exhalted? What made this day different from all the rest? what did you desire from today? Anyone? For me, i babysit LOTS, i love kids--my "i" is exhalted when i am with them! today while i babysat for the kids(all boys--one is 5months, one is 2years old, and the another is 5years old) the two year old, Elijah, came up and planted a kiss on my cheeck and said, 'i love you brooke'--my heart leaped, my "i" had been exhalted..i gave him a kiss right back and told him i loved him and he replied, "tank you brooke" with the biggest smile on his face.. :sadder: ..i could have just cried, i was so full of joy......children are so dear; i find myself seeing the Presence of Christ in the little children! I desire to be with them, as much as i share with them the Love of Christ, they share so much love--the unconditional love--that we all desire!! DesiringMore
No one's "i" was exhalted?? I pray each one of you see the Presence in others just as others see the Presence in you....I'll be praying also that your "i" is exhalted and you draw closer to Christ!
