BLAZEr
Ummm, editor of the Observer, that's not a credential I would speak highly of! The observer is, how do you say, a litle anti-catholic . . . how did she survive that environment?
Katt1227
T2BF- amesome testimony. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I'll definitely be keeping you in my prayers. I'm in college as well, at a public university in the heart of the Bible Belt. And I wouldn't change it for the world. I go to University of Kentucky in Lexington. I sought out the Newman Center (the Catholic Church on campus) as soon as I got to school 3 years ago. I became involed and have a solid foundation of friends at church there. Does this mean that I never have temptations... no. And in fact a lot of my "church" friends are the cause of many of my struggles, my temptations. While, I think that ultimately being around the right kind of people, the ones who bring you up, rather than drag you down is important. It's easy to loose sight of the fact that we all sin, we all fall short, even those of us who go to church. Don't rule out those liberals. They may be the ones who surprise you. I wouldn't assume that going to a Catholic University is any better than a non-catholic one. The important thing is that you seek out what you are looking for. If you are looking for a community of people who help you to live your faith more fully. It's there. In your liberal college. You just haven't found it. Keep looking. Keep searching. Whereever you are, Christ is there. We just have to take the blinders off and see Him.
