I hate to sound like a religious hypocrite

Today began our holdiay vaccation from school. It is freezing raining, but I sitll decided that Jesus was worth it to go to Mass. I decided to take the back roads because there are maniacs that drive on the highways. I turn down this one street, and I get up to the stop sign, I'm going less than ten, but my car would not stop, I went through the stop sign. Now I began to contemplate is it worth getting in an accident to get to daily mass. To get to the church I had to go over a hill, and the stop sign is at the bottom of the hill. Now if I couldn't stop on flat pavement I knew I couldn't stop on a hill. So I decided to turn around and head home. Now the stree I turned on and went through a stop sign on has stop lights on it. However the roads were slippery and I was going slow and went through so I'm like I don't want to go through the stoplights as the highway is really busy. I decided to take a back road to go to another road that intersects the highway. I tried turning down one street and I couldn't make the turn, the ABS breaks were going as if all heck brocke loose. So i decided to turn on the next street and I was able to make the turn....

...Now for the funny part....

As I made the turn I see this two year old puppy or younger run out in the road, it was a few meters ahead so I wasn't worried. It keeps running out in the middle of the street. so I'm going really really slow since I didn't want to hit it. I finally came to a complete stop and the Dog sat in front of my car. I got out, and found out the road is severly slippery. I almost fell on my kiester but I didn't.

I decided to try to move this dog away so I could at least get in my car, but the dog would keep following me. I thought about taking the dog home but I didn't. I continued to move the dog, and I just couldn't get rid of this dog, one time it even went in my car! Finally someone in a house came out to move their car, and I asked them if that was their dog, it was not, they said they've never seen the dog before. Finally the gentlemen said he'd hold the dog so I could leave, and I left.

I spent ten minutes trying to move that stupid dog!

Anyways, some phatmassers will tell me that I was in the wrong not to go to Church, but I didn't want to risk injury to myself or someone else if I hit them, etc. And Id idn't want to smash my car.

So Thought i'd share the story, at least the funny part.

In Christ,

Ed

Ash Wednesday

If someone is going to tell you that you were in the wrong for not going to daily mass because of what sounds like dangerous freezing rain, then I really think they should get out more. Sure, the eucharist is priceless, but God also understands the need to be safe.

A long time ago my brother and I were driving to school and it had snowed quite a bit in the last few days. That day was a beautiful clear day, and we were driving along our neighbor´s house and his big white husky dog just came ambling out into the middle of the road, casual as can be, and just stood there in the middle of the road. My brother slowed to a stop, and the dog just stood there and then just decided to lay down, relax, and have a nice break in the sun. Right in the middle of the road, in front of our car.

I think my brother tooted the horn and at some point the dog decided to get up and leave, but it was pretty funny. Especially how casual he was about it.

awww that's SO funny

Quite honestly, I think you were obligated to stay at home today! You shouldn't ever risk your life (or anyone else's for that matter) by driving in dangerous conditions. :ohno:

absolutely. it's not even Sunday. One time I missed Sunday Mass because of snow. When I tried to confess it, the priest said it wasn't really a sin because it would have been stupid to try to venture out in bad snow.

Did it have tags? Also, you could have taken it to a vet clinic (when the roads got better, obviously), to see if it has a microchip in it.
