Unbelievable! Just another further downward spiral after making gay marriage legal in the country!
Canada's top court says clubs that feature group sex and partner-swapping are perfectly legal.

In its 7-2 decision released Wednesday, the Supreme Court of Canada said, because consensual sexual activity in a private club poses no threat to society, it shouldn't be considered criminal.

The ruling sets a single standard, after lower courts went in opposite directions on two similar cases involving a pair of so-called 'swinger clubs' in Montreal.

In one case, the owner of a singles club was convicted on two counts of keeping a common bawdy house and fined a total of $7,500.

James Kouri's "Coeur a Corps" featured a dance floor around which a black curtain would swing every half hour. People hidden behind the drapery could then take part in or watch sex acts.

In the other case, Jean-Paul Labaye, the owner of the members-only "liberated couples" club L'Orage was also convicted of keeping a bawdy house and fined $2,500.

Members of Labaye's club could enter a locked room where they could participate in or watch sex acts.
Raphael, I hear you. all around.

It doesn't affect society. That just makes me sad that people could believe that their actions won't affect others, even when it involves an extremely intimate action. :weep:

Needless to say, I'd be mad if my fiance went to one of those, so it would affect me, and through me, society.

What scares me is I look at Canada, and realize that this is the way the U.S. would become if the the liberal Democrats had unopposed power in this country.

(And the more immoral legislation is passed in Canada, England, and other countries, the more impetus it will give American liberals to follow in their footsteps, "so we won't be behind the rest of the world.")

Freedom cannot be an end in itself. This leads to absurdism and "nausea" if you like Sartre. Man cannot be defined as freedom in some arbitrary and ultimately absurd sense. Only by discovering the realm of values does man's freedom find meaning. When a society proceeds according to the presupposition that there are no authentic values outside of the individual subjective perception (which is itself already an absurdity), such a society is on the road to ruin.
It is values that bind a society, not the anti-value of relativism.

If I may pontificate: the ultimate meaning and end of freedom is synergy with the Divine. Free-will is indicative of man's transcendent end; if freedom is not understood according to its nature as self-transcending, it cannot truly be called freedom, but is merely an absurd, animalistic enslavement.

I'm done.. America.. Gotta love freedom of speech. :hehehe:

I can't even reply to that, it's 2 am and I'm stoned so. I just want you to know that I mean freedom under the social contract. Meaning freedom as long as you don't infringe on others freedom.

because consensual sexual activity in a private club poses no threat to society, it shouldn't be considered criminal.

I think that pretty much sums it up. It's a private club where consensial sex takes place. It isn't criminal in any way and if it offends you, don't goto the club. I can't imagine any of yous guys going so why does this affect you.

I wanted to add I live in dallas where certain strip clubs are practically whore houses. So do strip clubs upset you guys or does it just upset you when the government decides it's ok to do?

both. such things offend the dignity of women, they threaten the family, encourage lust and other things which on a social level threaten the integrity of family, etc.. a government that can be so shallow and irresponsible has lost my confidence completely.

They are encouraging the degradation of women, which in turn effects the way men perceive women (as objects, etc) this effects marital fidelity, and sexual promiscuity, etc. this effects the lives of our children.. Basically I don't see any way that such evils contribute any good to society, they are just destructive on many levels. Given that the family is already being systematically destroyed, it strikes me as odd that a government would think it wise to encourage and legitimize such things.
