Carolou
Why do people get dandruff?
Are you talking about scalp and hair stuff? I sure hope so..because I'm about to answer it that way. There are multiple reasons for it....I think most of the time it's just because the scalp is dry from harsh shampoos, which causes flakies. Sometimes it has to do with a fungal issue, though. If you're looking for a way to stop dandruff I have some suggestions...First I would try to start using a vinegar rinse, it will fix the ph balance on your scalp. Also it adds shine to your hair. You can mix about a couple tea spoons of vinegar to a couple cups of water. You can also steep some tea in with that, to help the smell, and also..depending on the different herbs will have different conditioning effects. If that doesn't help..which I really think it would. Just use it everytime you wash your hair as a final rinse or in between shampoo and conditioner. But, you could buy some tea tree oil and massage that onto your scalp ones a week or so or every day at first, that may help..because of it's anti-fungal properties. But most likely dandruff is caused by dry, irritated scalp. Which the vinegar rinse should take care of! Anyways, I feel like a dork now....but I hope I helped a bit. I could get more information on it, if you want me to? I've spent lots and lots of hours learning about hair.

the vinegar rinse? You'll want to try and get it onto the scalp the most, if you're having trouble with dandruff. But it's also good for your hair I'd put it in a big bowl and then dunk your head in it..upside down, or you could just try pouring it on top. My sister(betinabean) was having some dandruff problems, I told her to use the vinegar rinse and now she does and it's all gone! She just pours it on. You could put it into an empty shampoo bottle or something before every shower and then use that to pour it on easier....

Carolou
Another thing.... You may have a sensitive scalp and this dandruff could be caused by the shampoo you're using. I suggest looking at the ingredients for the things listed below. I would stay away from shampoos that have the top three. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate - very, very, harsh Ammonium Laureth Sulfate- very harsh but better than the above Sodium Lauryl Sulfate- better than the above, but still a little harsh Sodium Laureth Sulfate-gentle, great pick! Here is some more information of dandruff for you. "Many people have suffered from dandruff at some time in their lives. Dandruff is characterised by an excessive amount of flaky skin on and falling from the scalp. Skin cells throughout the body are regularly replaced, with dead skin cells simply falling off as new cells grow. Dandruff occurs when this process occurs too rapidly and the dead skin cells accumulate on and fall from the scalp, forming white clumps. Dandruff may be caused by fungi called Pityrosporum ovale or Malassezia, which can be found on most people’s skin, but in higher concentrations in those affected by dandruff. Dandruff does not necessarily indicate that the scalp is dry; a dry flaky scalp is an unrelated and different condition. Symptoms of dandruff may include an itchy scalp, and presence of white flakes of skin, often visible against dark clothing. There is no real known prevention for dandruff, although it can be controlled, and may eventually slow itself. Dandruff can often be treated with over the counter products that can be found in pharmacies. Many anti-dandruff shampoos contain anti-fungal ingredients (such as selenium sulphide, ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione) to combat dandruff causing fungi. Supermarket lines claiming to combat dandruff may not be effective if they do not contain these ingredients; it is important to research the ingredients in products before purchasing them. Examples of common anti-dandruff shampoos include Selsun Blue and Head and Shoulders. For more severe dandruff, Nizoral or Sebizole shampoos may be more effective. For a natural alternative, rubbing a tablespoon of salt into the scalp prior to shampooing may aid in removing flaky skin (it is important that this is not tried on skin that is broken or bleeding!)" I think an easy solution is to try the vinegar rinses, though. Just want to note that most people consider dry flakes to be dandruff, and that is probably what you're going through right now...if you're asking about this for yourself. Then I just pour it on my head after I've shampooed and conditioned my hair. Make sure you rinse your hair out afterwards. The first time I didn't and smelt like a salad for the rest of the day. I love the vinegar rinse cause it's easy, fast, effective, all natural and I know exactly what I'm putting in my hair (unlike with shampoos). Oh, another thing, don't make the vinegar rinse with really cold water, it will be going on your head and back. Another thing I learned from experience. It only took two showers using the vinegar rinse before my dandruff was completely gone. My sister is the best :

I got rid of it by using face moisturizer on them after I shower. I tried applying the vinegar rinse to them but I'd get it in my eyes and that wasn't nice. I knew about the conditioning before swimming. My sister knows everything hair related and she told me about that : Another hair care tip: If you use a harsh shampoo, try conditioning before you shampoo your hair and after. The conditioner will help protect your hair from the shampoo.
Carolou
I wanted to add... Well, explain about the other benefit of doing vinegar rinses. The reason why it's supposed to help with shine. Because it helps to close the cuticle of your hair, which is the outer protective layer, the hair is made of three layers...it's circular. But, that is why it'd also help add shine to your hair. Plus by it helping to close the cuticles, it'd help with getting less split ends. You'd want to probably use apple cider vinegar or white vinegar. It really depends on the color of your hair..but red wine vinegar may eventaully start to stain your hair a bit redish. Anyways. Whatever you decide to do, I'll like to hear about it works out. Especially if you go with the vinegar rinses. Jazz4Jesus, you probably just have some dry skin under your eye brows, hehe. Good hair care tip, by the way. My sister is so silly : too many compliments.
