Catholic Bashing

I have just recently converted to the Catholic religion from Protestantism. I, myself, do not view this as a victory or a defeat for either side (since we all serve the same God) but some do not see it this way.

My wife has been Catholic since birth and has put up with constant persecution about how she is going to hell for being Catholic. I was just informed of an absolutely deplorable site on the internet (www.chick.com) by VeraMaria in which I found on just two pages at least a dozen references on how Catholics are to burn in eternal damnation...simply for being Catholic.

As a recent convert I would urge anyone who has any misconceptions or misunderstandings about the Catholic religion to do a little research before judging and damning almost 900 billion people to the fires of hell. It's relatively simple to do, I did it. Already I am fed up with the disgusting display of ignorance and total lack of obedience to God by so many people who feel that they are above God's Law and that it is acceptable to pass judgement on someone because they are Catholic. These same people who proclaim God's love in the very same breath.

Welcome aboard. I was baptized Catholic, but never knew it. Before I knew it, this January I got deeply into Catholicism, and have embraced it since then.

Oh... and I'm a convert from Protestantism myself.

Does Jack Chick hate Catholics?

Quite the opposite. In the mid-1970's, when he first began to understand what Roman Catholicism really teaches, he knew it was unscriptural.

um... has he ever been to a Mass???

i'm putting my money on: NO.

here is an acount of the Mass by a then Calvanist minister:

I'd been trained to believe that the Mas was the ultimate sacrilege a human could commit...a ritual that purpetuated to "resacrifice Jesus Christ."  So I would remain an observer.  I would stay seated, with my Bible open beside me.

As the mass moved on, however, something hit me.  My Bible wasn't just beside me.  It was before me-in the words of the Mass!  One line was from Isaiah, another from the Psalms, another from Paul.  The experience was overwhelming.  I wanted to stop everything and shout, "Hey, can I explain what's happening from Scripture?  This is great!"  Still I maintainted my observer status.

Then I felt all my doubt drain away.  As I saw the priest raise the white host, I felt a prayer surge from my heart in whisper: "My Lord and my God.  That's really you!"

...the experiece was intesified just a moment later, when i heared the congregation recite: "Lamb of God...Lamb of God...Lamb of God," and the priest respond, "This is the Lamb of God..." as he raised the host.

In less than a minute, the phrase "Lamb of God" had rung out four times.  From long years of studying the Bible, I immediatly knew where I was.  I was in the Book of Revelation, where Jesus is called the Lamb no less than twenty-eight times in twenty-two chapters...I was before the throne in heaven, where Jesus hailed forever as the Lamb.  I wasn't ready for this, though-I was at Mass!

Welcome Frozencell. You are among like minded people. I for one think we should have a subforum called "Urban Legends" devoted to some of the weird stories anti-catholics make up. With all the talent on this board, it doesn't take long to debunk it.

Of course, with all the revamping going on here, by the time I'm finished typring this post, there could be one!!!:lol:

Jesus said his followers would be hated because of him. And since the Catholic Church, not Protestantism, is His Church, it's only natural that it would be hated so bad.
