annie
AND I AM MAD She defied us and went ahead and pierced her own ear cartilage, over two months ago!!!! Just caught her with an earring in it---She thinks I am nuts to worry about the infection BUT I AM MAD BECAUSE SHE DEFIED US AND I AM THINKING OF HOW TO PUNISH HER!!!! Any comments would be welcomed, and any info on cartilage piercing would be welcomed..
inDEED
Have her take it out and take something away from her that's very valuable to her... ie: the phone, the computer, tv, time with friends
homeschoolmom
I don't know, but I'd be mad, too. Maybe require her to be seen in public with earmuffs for the next, oh, year? How is it that you can be so old and yet know so little about life, mom?
Andrea348
i wanted to pierce my cartilage back in 8th grade, but my mom wouldn't let me. i can't say that i regret it because i probobly would have let it close up. i do have two holes in both lobes though....that is too many sometimes. if you said no, you said no. stay with it. so she did it herself??? ewwww. Sojourner
I tried to pierce mine twice in college ... it never healed properly, and it was extraordinarily painful both times. I gave up, and am content with having just one set of piercings. Is the piercing healed over now? If it's not infected by now, it's probably not going to be. I know those do take longer to heal ... like 6 weeks or longer, though.
homeschoolmom
Tell her if she wants to "fancy up" her ears, she can wear these:
photosynthesis
all I can say is... it could be a lot worse. I don't see anything sinful about piercings and I think I'd allow my kids to do it, provided it wasn't excessive or unsightly. the real issue is that she was disobedient, and children are required to obey their parents. If my kids ever wanted to get something pierced, I would make them go to a professional because I know people that have pierced things by themselves and they end up with nerve damage or puncturing a blood vessel. annie
homeschool mom, whaddya mean? Yes it is healed. I do not hang out with folks with cartilage piercings. I was only asking about cartilage piercings in general. Believe me, she is in for a grounding, and I am sorry homeschool, if it appears I know nothing about life--I never noticed it because she was careful to keep an earring out of it in my presence. numero uno is use of the car. Merry Christmas, but she loses that.
homeschoolmom
I was being sarcastic... I'm sorry... You know... Kids think that moms know nothing about life... I should have been clearer...

HomeTeamFamily
it sounds more like an issue of obeying the parents than the ear piercing to me......
