photosynthesis
I was debating with the same "atheist Jew" awhile ago and had trouble again with one of his arguments... We were talking about why I believe homosexuality is wrong. Now, he started by mentioning the verse in Leviticus where it says that a man should not lie with another man as he would with a woman. And then he mentioned several other verses that mention not being allowed to eat certain foods, or wear certain fabrics. He wanted to know why Christians don't approve of homosexuality, but we eat bacon and wear blended fabrics. I used Natural Law (i.e. that God created us male and female, and that homosexuality goes against God's original plan for humanity) and some New Testament verses that explicitly say that homosexuality is wrong. So obviously my argument against homosexuality didn't depend on that one OT verse. but I have always wondered why we don't keep kosher and wear mixed fabrics. and is it OK for a man to touch a menstruating woman? why don't we follow all 613 commandments?
Jesus fulfilled the Law, and through faith in Christ we no longer follow the law but the New Covenant. The point being he fulfilled the law so we don't have to be bound by Old Covenant Mosaic and Levitical laws, instead we are bound by a new and better covenant. You are right that it is a matter of natural law.
