Frankencow
Is anyone here aware of the supposed historical error found in Joshua? I heard something about it on the DIscovery channel once, but wanted to go back and look into it further.
Pio Nono
JMJ 12/20 - Fourth Tuesday of Advent Frankencow, There are a number of historical inaccuracies in the book of Joshua. For instance, the book claims the Hebrews burned to the ground a number of villages and towns - archaeology doesn't bear this out. But the book never claims to be a strict history, either. In what other way can we read it, then? We should read it with the eyes of the Fathers - for instance, the tribes represent sin and imperfection within us that cannot be tolerated. Hope this helps.
