phatcatholic
well, i think people are just born with certain dispositions or temperments. but, if you're one of those silly people, that doesn't mean that you can't adopt some more discipline in your life. in that sense you can become more "serious" but still be the person you are. for example, you can try harder to "let your yes be yes, and your no be no", think before you speak, carry a planner so that you stay more organized, and try to listen more. these things usually help a silly person to be taken more seriously, which may also be what this thread is about. Philosopher
Age Getting older helps alot. Besides that though, just progress in little steps. Assume more responsibility, make sure to think important things through or do what phatcatholic said. It is good to be serious, but being to serious can be bad too. Anastasia13
Perhaps, but outside of what it takes to do fairly well in school. Someone on another thread noted that I seem like someone "who is not totally serious about discussing theology (this is not a negative thing)." Now granted that is true that that is not necessarily a bad thing, but that not serious about something, well, outside of merely doing my school work, I have really been serious about much. I'm very different from my brother in that he learned a lot about the Roman empire on his own in high school, but I never had anything in particular that I went out of my way to learn a lot about. BTW, I'm 22. Edited December 18, 2005 by Light and Truth

I can't help but think L&T is (mostly) asking the wrong crowd...

phatcatholic
maybe u just haven't found "ur thing" yet, ya know, that thing that inspires you to learn more. however, from my p.o.v., i would say that you seem pretty serious about learning more about catholicism.
