OLAM Dad
Greetings everybody, I am the father of Totus Tuus and Ora et Labora. As you all know, Lauren (Totus Tuus to you all) entered the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration on December 8th, the solemnity of The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Before posting the pictures I would like to express my thanks to all of you here in her 'phamily'. You all have been a very precious part of her life and she very much loves each and every one of you and is praying for you all. A special thanks goes to those of you who run and financially support this fabulous site. Congratulations on a job well done. The entrance ceremony was simple but beautiful and while it was a sad moment for all of us in her family it was also a moment of great joy. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the ceremony (I sure was before I saw it) I'll give a brief description of what happened. Within the Shrine there is a door that separates the cloister from the public. This door is called the Enclosure Door. Already wearing her jumper, but without the veil, Lauren knelt before this door and knocked three times. I think the intention is to knock slowly but she was so anxious to join that it sounded more like a machine gun. Mother Vicar opened the door. Standing on the other side of the door were all of the nuns. Mother asked Lauren "What do you desire", to which Lauren replied "I desire to begin the time of discernment — the time of listening to God as He speaks in and through the Community. I ask for your prayers that I may spend the rest of my life in His Eucharistic Presence and prepare my soul for the great day of union between bride and Bridegroom." Mother then replied, "Enter into the joy of the Lord". Mother and one of the sisters then placed the veil on now Sister Lauren's head, she rose and then while the community was singing Immaculate Mary she first hugged Mother and then hugged each of her new sisters while they sang. That's it. Short and sweet, just as it should be for a postulant. Hopefully some of you discerning your own vocations will have your own entrance ceremonies of some sort or another in the future and you or your families (depending on whether you will be allowed Internet access, PCPAs are not) will share the experience with the rest of us. I'll follow this post with some pictures. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions that you might have. Ora et Labora and I will answer them to the best of our ability. God bless you all, OLAM Dad (a.k.a. Michael)

OLAM Dad
Habemus Nun! http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y19/mater...ce/b7599931.jpg For some reason this one refuses to size properly. You'll have to click on the link to see how miserable Sr. Lauren is now that she is a nun. Edited December 15, 2005 by OLAM Dad
