Communion and Liberation

Friendship and community is one of the beautiful things about CL. I recongize that I desire, I need, I lack, there are things that I long for. These things cannot be fulfilled by me b/c if they could then I wouldn't need them, I wouldn't long for them; I'd be able to meet all my own needs. The the truth is that I can't and so I need Another. I need Someone else. And that someone is YOU! Because only Another can meet the longings of my heart (not so that I stop desiring, stop longing but so that I can desire something more).

Tony, every morning pray the Angelus and ask God to send you someone. I probably will not be who you expect...but you must beg, you must ask. And then wait and see who He puts in front of you!

I am in the CLU (the CL community for university students) in New York. I met the movement last year totally unexpectedly never hearing about it before in my life... reading the posts in this thread confirms the beauty I see in the charism and in the people.

If you are in high school and are interested in GS, definitely check it out. It might be hard if there is no one near you, but you can probably go on the GS vacations.

I missed the CLU vacation last year, but I'm definitely going this year. (Can't make it to Boston, or else I'd say hello to you, Lil Red!)

Traces is an amazing magazine. Amazing.

Ok, I've got a really funny Communion and Liberation story that I guess I can share with you guys here.
Anyway... After I meet this awesome charism, I discovered that my "long lost cousin" is a CL responsible and priest in Santiago, Chile!

My uncle, would tell me about the others in the family. One became a priest and is a missionary in Chile, and that's all we knew about him. So here I go on Google and type in and I come across a couple articles in Spanish.
I couldn't believe it! So i sent the articles to my family and they said it was him. I got his email address and then we started our little correspondance. He hasn't written in English in 40 years, so we communicate in Italian, even though I'm only in my third semester of Italian.

From what I can tell, he is a wonderful man and priest. It's funny, that as relatives we never met, but now, we have a closer bond.

As my cousin (he's my father's first cousin) remarked, "Le vie del Signore sono veramente infinite!" which means "The ways of the Lord are truly infinite!" and "Che bello scoprire le vie imprevedibili del Mistero fatto carne!" which means "How beautiful to find the unforseeable ways of the Mystery made flesh!"

I find everything about CL to be beautiful and compelling. This "long lost cousin" thing is just weird! But so wonderful!
Hey all you CLers!

Where are you in "Why the Church?" right now?  (I'm in 2 different places b/c I'm w/ 2 different groups......families & the college kids...my husband and I are their adult leaders).

Also, has anyone read (or is reading) "The Risk of Education"?

The Risk of Education is what made me fall in love with Giussani's writings and the movement!
