Thanks for heads up on this thread, Lil Red! It's been a while b/c I've been incredibly busy (getting married just seems to do that).

I am in CL, and I have been for about 6 years! As people have already said, being a part of the movement is based on free adherence. There is no membership, but when you find something that is attractive and corresponds to your heart, how can you not stay with it? The aim of CL is that we educate each other on how to see Christ as the only reasonable response to every moment and circumstance of our lives. We meet together in School of Community, read from Giussani's books, and talk about how Christ comes to us (in the flesh) in our lives every day. The charism centers around the Incarnation, and that Christ not only became flesh, but that He dwells among us today in the flesh. That's all I have time for write now (my students are coming into my classroom), but I'll check in soon if you have any more questions.

And I'll help anyone find a community near them!!!
Peace and joy this Advent!

Yup...Oct. 22 of this year...and we're both in the movement (CL, that is)! :D: The wedding was awesome (if I do say so myself...or you could ask Fr. Pontifex b/c he was the celebrant)....anyway, enough about my wedding...this is supposed to be a CL thread

Lil Red, thanks so much for the congrats and the heads up on this thread!

Seriously, anyone ask me anything...if I don't know, then I'll find out!

Actually, that's a really good question....

My husband and I are planning on going (this is his first National event, and he's pretty excited), however we're running into a few road blocks. We've paid for our room and our plane tickets, but I'm having a hard time getting off of school for Friday and Monday (b/c we're now making up MLKJ day as a snow make-up day >:( )

So probably, but we'll see.......

Yeah, I'll be in Boston, see you then! Also, think about the GS Vacation, and bring some of your kiddos. It's President's Day weekend, Friday through Monday. Bring it!

Hey all you CLers!

Where are you in "Why the Church?" right now? (I'm in 2 different places b/c I'm w/ 2 different groups......families & the college kids...my husband and I are their adult leaders).

Also, has anyone read (or is reading) "The Risk of Education"?

Hi Em,

I've read the Risk of Education and am reading it with some friends on conference call too.

In Why the Church we are in Chapter 7 point 8. We will be done with capter 7 by Diakonia, which is where we are supposed to be according to Italy.
