that's true.. on the internet there aren't the same nuances and nonverbal "barriers" that people put up as there are in real life, so sometimes it can make it easier for people to confide in avatars and tell them really personal stuff. The anonymity makes it easier too. However, the communication is completely disembodied, so when I post on phatmass I'm communicating with a little less of who I really am.
