"their seven-point appeal included criticism of his rigidly conservative stand on such issues as contraception, limitations on the role of women and the sex-abuse scandal that has rocked the church. "

Now I agree with you :P:

Well then I guess they need to remove about 2000 or so other saints who would most certainly have agreed on these things as well.

Yep.
They are simply asking us to agree with their sinful positions.
Not a chance :D:

Makes him a saint in my book. Now if he wasn't conservative on these issues, I would wonder...

He was NOT a conservative, he was simply faithful, doing what all catholics are supposed to do -OBEY the Magisterium.

I agree with you.

I actually prayed to JPII to ask him to heal my eye. I had been hit in the eye a few years back. There was alot of damage, I wasn't blind or anything, but alot of damage was done. About last year I went to the doctor and he told me that the pressure in my eye had shot up, and if it went any higher I'd need eye drops to take everyday for the rest of my life, a dramatically increased chane of getting a cataract, and many other problems. I was rescheduled to go see my doctor about a month after JPII died. My grandma told me a few weeks beforr my appointment to ask JPII to heal my eye. I prayed every night, and when I went for my appointment, the doctor was amazed to find that the pressure had shot back down, and that there's about a 1/100 chance it'll shoot back up to as high as it was. He couldn't explain why it had happened, but I knew why :D:

I know. My point is for them to say this they invalidate the whole canonization process and past canonizations. In other words the are trying to make the gates of hell prevail quite clearly.

Like I said in the other thread, there are a billion Catholics in the world, and we're supposed to care because 11 bozos feel like slandering perhaps the greatest man of our time?

It's a joke. How they managed to get press is beyond me.

They're probably just jealous because they're unholy, unfaithful hypocrites living an inauthentic life and JP2's witness and teachings brings out the vengeful pharisee in them. They'd probably nail JP2 to a cross if they could get their hands on him.
geniuses!

I know JP the Great is a saint, to this I have no doubt. But trhe process to Sainthood must be respected, and if it must be respected those who might oppose it should be able to do so freely and without fear of being reprimanded.

However, the 'seven points' being points to which ALL catholics should be obedient to the Magisterium does not inspire confidence that they will suceed. They obviously have very little understanding themselves of the validity or the Holiness of the Church. They need to be educated, not excommunicated.

They should be seriously listened to and replied to in order for everyone to understand two things;

1. No stone was left unturned in declaring JP the Great a saint.

and

2. All points against his saint hood where brougt forward, and replied to with proper explanation as to why these reasons do not prevent sainthood.

just my 2 cents (Canadien currency as always, which soon might be worth more than the US greenback!!! HA!)

Back to you Bob...
