U.s. And Coalition Casualties

I believe (however misguided one may perceive this view) that our being in Iraq will increase the freedom of other Islamic states. I believe that since the men and women of these countries are indoctrinated into an ideolgy and have their access to information controlled that they will only be exposed the ideas of freedom and democracy and liberty by their immediate and effective presence in their midst. If Iraq is a success (this is of course not guaranteed) then it will make it clear to the people yearning to be free (this is most evident in Iran) that democratic government that avoids radical Islamic tendencies is a better option than what they presently have.

If Iraq had invaded America and tried to impose on you an ideology that a better world came with suppression and that the freedom you grew up with was no more than blind idealism that led to a corrupted world, would you actually take them at their word? Would the rest of the Western world gradually mould themselves on the middle east just cos Iraq took over America? Just as you think the men and women of the middle east are indoctrinated into an ideology which they have accepted without question (i.e. being oppressed), they might feel the same way about Americans~ they might think you guys've been blinded by your unquestioned freedom~ What you think is good for the middle-easterns might not exactly be what they want or need...

I initially wanted this to be a peaceful and prayerful thread and not a debate but it turned out to happen anyway.

I don't even think people check out the link on the first post which is the most important thing :( And no one is praying b/c they are debating. Next time it's going straight to the prayer forum.

I would rather Dust just close the topic.

EcceNovaFacioOmni

Not all Shiate Muslims are radical. Shaite has been one of the two major Islamic factions since the early days of Islam. Islam split into Sunni and Shiate after disagreement over who the caliph was to be after the death of the five "rightly guided caliphs".

Excuse my atrocious spelling.
