Good Friday,

Moderators cannot suspend.

Moderators cannot even edit posts.

Moderators can move posts to the Back Alley.

Moderators can delete posts completely (ONLY in cases of vulgarity or pornography)

Moderators do have the ability to "warn" people. Every time a member is "warned", it increases there "warning level". This warning system keeps track of every time someone was warned and for what reason. It is up to me and only me to decide what to do with this.

Nobody is close to getting suspended, so don't worry about it. In fact, I'm only going to have to tell very few people that I've received concern over their behavior--hopefully, they'll accept the criticism as opportunity for growth.

God bless.

Revision:

Moderators can now edit posts, but they must document the post like so:

[Edited by dUSt: personal attack]

I think this will allow an otherwise productive thread being moved to the Back Alley just because of a single violation of the guidelines.

no, bruce, that doesn't apply to YOU just everyone else :P

EDIT: lol jk. however, with you bruce, you make certain claims without citing, so what else is there for us to do but say "you're wrong"?

I really thought this was a debate board, not a term paper.

Grin.

I can cite with the best of them, but...

I have noticed a certain trend here. A clip is put up, [normally requiring a cite] to illustrate a point. However, WHEN that cite is offered, almost never is the ACTUAL QUOTE USED in the post, cited, then discussed.

IMMEDIATELY, the topic swings massively OFF the cite offered, into why the source is not APPROVED or some other thing the author may have said ten years before or after the little snippet put into the thread.

So, understanding the massive propensity of the particpants here to engage that way .. I will often not cite, to keep the discusson ON that snippet, OR cite, if the entire body of work is worth looking at.

Debate is something that I understand.

I have owned and RUN debate boards for over 11 years now. Some of the most active debate boards in their respective area's on the web.

I'm quite familiar with debate...and debate is best done with INTERACTION, not document dumping.

That is building a body of knowledge. Debate is discussing that body of knowledge.

What bugs me the most is when people refuse [almost standard operating proceedure here] to critically examine things.

Defending everything, all the time, without exception isn't the mark of debate, it is the mark of zealotry.

If you have learned one thing about me, in the time I've been here, I don't do that with OUR materials, or beliefs, not think that it is required of any Christian.

Please go see my thread: Chest Thumping. First think a little about the topic, then post a reasoned response.

hey dUSt,

I think this is a change for the better.

Thanks for putting in so much time, trying to keep all the natives from getting restless.

You do your utmost to keep most of the people happy, most of the time, which is as good as it can get. ;)

Pax Christi. <><
