Belmont Abbey (Our Lady Help of Christians Abbey) Favorite saint: Mary and then Moses and St. Joesph Devotions: Do you mean like what types of prayer am I drawn too: Liturgy of the Hours and the Rosary. Do you mean what Saints do I consider my patrons etc: Moses, St. Joseph, Mary, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Benedict Name you would like to take and why: I would have liked to have taken the name Brother Moses OSB. The guy was an absolute boss and was truly a servant of God that we were all called to be (even when it meant suffering). He was brought up to be king in case his brother died. He possessed the hight of the knowledge in the world at the time since Egypt was the great power at the time. He was brought up to care for his people, the Egyptians and cared for the Israelites (which he showed in defending one who was being beaten). He understood that both were God's people and both were his (Moses's) people. However, God was the true God and Moses understood He must be His servant. He learned even more from God. He learned of Law and of order and many of the Fathers speak of Moses as the greatest philosopher since he learned all the wisdom the world had to offer and then learned at the foot of God. He also had to watch the people he loved and the people that he was brought up to care for, the Egyptians, be destroyed. He saw his brother's heartedness of heart be his brothers downfall even as Moses tried to reason with his brother. He also saw the damage this hard heartedness caused for the Egyptian people which must have pained him greatly. Moses was a real man with real emotions; we forget this having seen the stoic Charlton Heston in the Ten Commandments. He saw so much damage inflicted on both of his people and had to be God's instrument for many of these plagues, yet he was God's willing servant and trusted. He followed the Lord though it must have been a tremendous pain to do so. Both of his people needed a leader and He fulfilled the role of leader that God chose for him and truly brought glory to God's name. He was a suffering servant and brought his people into covenant with God on Sinai and gave them God's law that they may know the good and know God's will and do it. Moses truly is one of the greatest men to ever walk this earth and I greatly admire him and want to be God's good servant, no matter the cost, just like him. Favorite feast day: Feast of St. Joseph Favorite food: Soft-shell crab meuniere or possibly a softshell crab po-boy with char grilled oysters on the half shell Favorite animal: fox The food you hate the most: ummmm....don't know Hardest part of your discernment: don't know, monastic life is soooo beautiful. Waking up early in the morning for prayer was rough sometimes. Being open to it was hard as was realizing this beautiful, holy life wasn't for me. Anything you like to add? Moses is the man. The Convent at my Church Favorite saint: St. Monica, St. Therese, St. Bernadette, St. Cecilia Devotions: Rosary, St. Jude, St. Rita, St. Anthony Name you would like to take and why: Sr. Monica Therese of the Infant Jesus. Monica is my Confirmation Saint. Therese is one of my most favorites. She's helping my discernment. Infant Jesus because I have a special Devotion to the Infant. If it is God's will for me to enter a convent, I would hope for a Christmas entrance. Favorite feast day: Probably Immaculate Conception Favorite food: Chicken Fingers Favorite animal: Cat The food you hate the most: Brocolli Hardest part of your discernment: Deciding on whether or not I really do have a Vocation Anything you like to add? I know my name is FutureSister but I'm still not 100% sure if that really is my future. I would like to be but it's like one week I'm Convent bound and then the next week, I want to get married.
