DiscerningSoul
if you all want me to tell about you need to ask more specific questions it is hard to just describe everything to much wonderfulness i dont know where to start
ok you asked for it : What was your first day like? Like where did you go? To the retreat house or right to the main convent. Did you see any of those little lizards they sell in pet stores up here? I know you had to see the cats you couldn't miss them! Were you able to hear the doves from across the street? On some mornings I was greeted to there cooing in the morning. Were you given your own room? What was you day like? Did you where a habit? Meet any other discerning souls? Did you sit next to Sister Imelda in choir? How was the weather and what did you think about the hurricane? What did you think of that handcrafted wood carving above the alter? Did you know it was made by a local carpenter? Oh goodness, there is so much more I could ask of you, I was only there for a week in the retreathouse and I enjoyed every moment of it and God willing I will be able to go back, this time to try my vocation there. Oh how tall are you? I am 5'1" and would be the smallest one there. LOL I can't wait to hear about your time there. God Bless you on this 1st day of Advent. karin
woah ok Jessica I will try to answer all your questions. My first day we arrived in the evening and I met with Sister Mary Imelda in the grille parlor not much happened that day because it was late as i said before. But they did feed us some super yummy food. the first day we stayed in the cennacle room I didnt enter until the next evening which was a Saturday. Yes I saw lizards and they scare me, and of course i saw their cats. i do love cats and they have some particularily tame ones that are named Kitty Kitty and Ti'fluer (i am not sure I spelled that right) whom i am espcially fond of. Yes I saw the doves across the street while I was in the cennacle room my 18month old nephew saw them to and he loved them. Yes I was given my own room which is called a cell in the monastery. My day was pretty awesome every day we (the novitiate) got up at 4:45 and got dressed and then after that we went downstairs to the chapel to pray the offices of Matin and Lauds. Every three hours we went back to the chapel and prayed the corresponding hour to the time of day. There was class everyday at ten am in which we learned about The Rule of Saint Augustine, Monastic Decorum, Liturgical Prayer , Sacred Scripture and some other things. We had recreation everyday from 6:30 to 7:30 and we played games and spoke freely. There was mass every day at 5. We ate lunch and dinner together as a community but we dont eat breakfast together because the professsed rise an hour earlier than the noviate so they eat then. Yes my place in the chior was right next to Sister Mary Imelda. yes, I did see the wooden carving above the altar it's very pretty. the weather was humid but I loved it because it rained alot and therefore the grass was always green very very pretty. The hurricane was nothing really exciting the wind was loud but it didnt really hit us very hard at all just a few shingles off the roof but that about it. I am 5'11/2" though my drivers permit says 5'2" I was the shortest one there but it wasnt to bad. I enjoy being short. I hope I covered all your questions feel free to ask me more. God Bless and May Mary Preserve your vocation. Karin

Just curious...
Sister told me they are required to take showers everyday and you have 15 min to do so. I think they take there showers just before bed. (At lease that is what I did when I was there) Karin was the vail the same black see-thru mesh one that we see on the pictures that Sister Marjory took? PS: you don't have to be scared of the little lizards they would never hurt you. (they sell them to kids up here in CT in pet stores)
