Ive seen a picture of Benedict's seal as portrayed by the Vatican gardens (aka the huge seal made of flowers in the gardens) and it looks like the seal Cam posted.

Where is this graphic from?

At the Vatican website, the standard coat-of-arms, which represents the Holy See, still has the tiara. Benedict's personal coat-of-arms, however, still displays the mitre:

it's just a different motif...the "mitre" one still had the triple tiara...I guess I prefer the look of the new one...They are both the same thing...

I think it's a symbol of Vatican weakness not needed in these times, not to mention a departure from tradition that could further distance us from the Orthodox Churches.

that graphic with the Tiara was an artist rendition that was contained in a Wikepedia artical when there was all this controversey over whether the mitre would be officially there (because a few Vatican Documents had been released containeing the tiara with his crest and plus they hadn't taken the tiara out of it when they added it to the papal gardens)

however, it is certain now I believe that the mitre is in the offficial crest of Benedict XVI

I would love to see the day when a pope put his crown back on and went to meet with the eastern patriarchs, and all of them with their crowns on issued advice to the nations of the world. but... sigh... this great symbol has been supressed for a couple papacies now and there are no signs of its resurgence... rather there are signs to the contrary... ah well what are we gonna do?
