Per Catholics, if you aren't if full communion with the Catholic church you aren't in communion with God's grace so you're not a Christian. jswranch
Jasjis, On topic of my mention of NOSTRA AETATE
And what good is that? Who said they weren't Christian because they aren't good catholics?
Did you actually happen to read the document? It has nothing to do with 'Christians... [who] aren't good Catholics.' It directs their attitude toward non-christians. Do you happen to believe Hindus, Muslim etc, are Christians? The church's stance on non-catholic christians from VII is Unitatis Redintegratio http://www.ewtn.com/library/COUNCILS/v2ecum.htm
Please consider the actions that preach without 'words'.
What do you mean by this. You seem to have alot to say, but I am having trouble understanding you.

MichaelFilo
For the sake of the topic, I know of a very similiar family (Leahey(SP?) maybe yours?) in my own town.. I do suggest prayer first. I realize what you mean, if they are not doing all the holy things that they can, are they on fire with Christ's grace? The reality, I believe, is that the resounding answer is no, they are not. It's good you clarified things with your mother, but your dad ought to convert if he's attending Mass, and the only way to do that is to find a church function you both can attend (church retreat for adults; try your luck). As for your siblings refer your brother the Cathedrals which poor and rich built and both used, then refer to the fact that the Catholic Church is the number agency through which aid is distributed throughout the world and that Faith is it's most fulfilling export (which a golden monstrance will help in grasping the most important aspect of the Faith). And your sister, well teach her no Hindu will ever let you have your Catholic cermony in their temples, because what is Catholic is Catholic, and what is Hindu is Hindu. Of course, there is nothing wrong with wanting to make all of it Catholic because, hell, we can't believe we are right and not share the Truth with others (thats a positive approach to the whole "only one person is right, so we cannot believe they are equally right). God bless, Mikey
Brother Adam
i dunno, i'm confused now
I believe the issue is with those who reject the formal teaching of the Catholic Church and like sola scripturists interpret the word "all" in Romans 3:23, they interpret EENS to be "all encompassing" and even those who are incorporated into the Church by their baptisms are really not incorporated into the Church and go straight to hell no matter what, do not pass go, do not collect $200. They lack the ability to see beyond their own pious misunderstandings shall we say.
