LouisvilleFan
Wow, You are in the top 7.9% richest people in the world. There are 5,525,551,470 people poorer than you. Some how I think this doesnt take into consideration that I owe more money than in my savings account, nor does it take into account of that in the Western World, our cost of living is probably 10 000 time inflated more than the 3rd world! .... I understand the gap between the rich and the poor in the world. All Iam saying is that this poll is not a good representation of the actual situations that people are in. I know many people that can not even spare the one hour of your salary due to difficulties. True richness is of the treasure in Heaven. Do you build up treasure here on Earth where rust and moth destroy or ever lasting treasure in Heaven where neither rust or moth destroy?
I agree that while the poll is probably accurate, economically and spiritually the point it's trying to make isn't obvious to most people. After hearing the story about how Mother Theresa ended up in India, I think a better question would be "Have you ever consumed animal dung for a meal?" You can make all kinds of excuses about "oh, I have debt" and "my heating bill is 300 dollars!", but we are truly priviledged to have the opportunities for higher education (for which most of us borrow from Uncle Sam) and to make enough money every year that banks let us spend their money and pay them back over the next ten, twenty, thirty years! We are priviledged to have Tim Horton's and McDonald's and the occasional steak dinner and a place to live for which some of us go into further debt just to pay the heat bill. Isn't it ironic that "poor" countries like Nigeria export their priests to "rich" countries like the United States?

Same question here! I'm the 679,275,550th richest person. But all my $12.50 an hour job covers are my student loans and car payments (I couldn't even afford to live at my own place anymore) Edited January 16, 2006 by jgirl
