When do the imagined feelings of a minority trump the benign desires of the majority?  It's not like we are saying "Hanuka smells of elderberries!" to one another. Should we also not say "Happy Thanksgiving" because native Americans aren't so happy about it? Or should we not say "Happy New Year" because Chinese, Mayans, etc have different calendars? I am not saying that I would boycott Target for this but it does annoy me.

How about large corporations stay out of religious holidays altogether? As I mentioned before, they aren't interested in the reverence of the holiday. They are merely concerned with capitalizing on it.

Personally, I think the whole Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays debate is petty.

Our local stores gives all kinds of money, supplies and gift cards to the local Catholic schools.

I think its a good idea. I really don't like being hasseled when I'm going to the store. I will make a donation to worthy causes, I don't need some annoying bell and someone bugging me and guilting me into it. And, in all honesty, if they want to put Merry Christmas, put Merry Eid and Happy Hannukah or like someone suggested, just Happy Holidays.
I would be more inclined to donate money at target if they just had a booth or even a stand without someone there bothering you.

So true! I'm all for putting the money into a jar every once in a while, but when it's every store for a month, it's overkill.
