We are loosing people here in our diocese, we just lost 5 more seminarians and we have a total of 9 left.

what about the other calls for vocation? there needs to be the same abundance of holy families as there needs to be holy orders, and neither are being filled... and you can't have priests w/o them having a family

IXpenguin21, yoru rigth to an extent but after that no.

we're talking about the eucharist here. not a retreat, or anything.

Jesus Christ.present. it is not to be taken lightly nor are we to just hope that everything is "okay" when its not.

it is a sin to be in the state of mortal sin while recieving the holy communion.

im sorry but we have to protect and defend the blessed sacrament of all costs.

we should not ride on ppls ignorance but our recognization of the how important it is to push our actions to ensure our Lord is not being abused. at all.

why? cuz its our duty.

Only us Americans receive it by hand... Rome really shouldn't allow it... Yeah I know I'm gunna get a comeback to this but think about it, what's worse? Having your privalige to receive God's gift by hand taken away and stopping the improper use of the Eucharist or keeping the right to recieve it in your hands but have people steal the Eucharist, drop it, or do something else with it.

I'd love to know what people do with Hosts when they don't consume them. I know some are Satanists, but what about others? I mean, what would those other people want with a Communion Host? Since they have no respect or reverence for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, what use would they have for it anyway? C'mon now!

not too long ago couple of parishes went into alert stage when after mass they found a host under a pew. and then another was found outside on the church yard (or in the parkinglot), just there.

:( we were all in shock that such a thing happened.

I wonder if that will cause an increase in the number of altar boys? One of the major duties of altar boys when I grew up was holding the paten under the recipient's chin to catch a falling Body.

(I guess I'm showing my age by referring to them as altar boys as well as the paten !!)

thats not true, because i've recieved communion in other countries (canada, the czheck repuplic, poland, and italy) and people recieved w/ their hands.

i've been to Papal Mass where people recieved w/ the hand...

Ya, it's not just a NAmerican thing. And it shouldn't be revoked.

Although we have a duty to defend Christ when possible, I sincerely believe that he can look after himself. He asked the apostles on Gethsemene to put away their swords.

We have to hope that Christ is acting in these people's lives even though they abuse Him (intentionally or not)

It is due to a lack of catechesis, and not the practice of receiveing in the hands.

I will defend the Eucharist at all costs. ALL COSTS.

If your friend was being abused and insulted would you just stand by?

Christ died for his friends. I'll do the same if i must to defend the Eucharist.

any priest who would notice such an act and do nothing is potentially in grave sin. There is no excuse for that at all. I have no problem with receiving in the hand if it is done with reverence, and people are truly making a throne with their hands to receive. I did receive on the tongue prior to ordination and it is the way I would prefer it, but I don't think it is wrong.

But the two things are totally different.

Personally, when I have an assembly that I know has non-Catholics I make an announcement before I begin to distribute. "For our brothers and sisters that are here and are not Catholic, if you still would like to come up in the the procession, please cross your arms acrossed your chest, and I will give you a blessing instead."

It works and it takes like 10 secs. geesh. My brothers, I apologize for them.

I love you all. Keep the faith.

Yes, but when appropriate. I think going over to someone after mass if you notice them doing something is appropriate, but jumping out of your pew and slaying them in the middle of communion may not be.
