Yaknow...

I have dozens of math textbooks, from basic algebra through graduate level mathematical physics.  (Not, mind you, that I understand half of them...  but still, I peruse.)  I had never even heard of a gnomon until tonight.

And doing research, I can't think of any practical use for them.

I'm sure this insight will inspire your studying. :)

what was your texbook?  Ours is "Excursions in Modern Mathematics."

Oh man, I first read that as "Exorcisms in Modern Mathematics!" I think Fibonacci's sequence is pretty cool. The number is found in nature a lot, and this page has some cool facts about it.

They mention the Fibonacci sequence in the movie Pi. Its an awesome movie, one of my favorites.
Math is evil.  :(  Did you learn the quadratic formula song? It goes to the tune of "Pop the Weasel".

X is equal to negative B, plus or minus square root, B squared minus four AC all over 2 B.

I think I got that right...darn math.  :P:

I am going to OWN the final exam though... those gnomons better get ready to taste the WRATH of my GRAPHING CALCULATOR!

I'm taking Math 1431 (Business Calculus) at LSU right now and I hate it. I feel like I literally fight this class. The good thing is that this will be the last math class I ever have to take.

I'm sure economics next semester will be miserable though.
Does anyone know what this is, class? Anyone? Anyone? This is the Laffer curve.  Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics.
Teacher: (taking attendance) Bueller?....... Bueller?.......Bueller?
Girl: Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

haha... I love that movie!!

thanks to all who were/are praying for me. I got an email from my math for plants professor and I'm no longer worrying to death about the class... it might seem silly (at least I think it's silly) but I have a lot of other things stressing me out and at least I have one less thing to worry about. woohoo!
