jiyoung
Who's disagreeing? heh. Hee, I find it interesting that they're located in a building called Queen of Angels that was run by Franciscans. And the name of the new hospital, Queen of Angels Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center...I didn't think Presbyterians agreed with the whole Queen of Angels thing... God's Errand Girl
Maybe the Presbyterians thought that "Queen of Angeles" was in relation to "Los Angeles" somehow. Or maybe the nuns who sold it to the Presbyterians forced a gun to their heads and demanded that they keep the name...totally joking. But, I wonder, like you, if they made any connection to Mary being the "Queen of Angels/Heaven"?
jiyoung
Well, LA's full name is La Ciudad de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Portiuncula (forgiving my lack of Spanish-specific characters), meaning The City of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of Portiuncula, so yeah. MartinLuther
Yeah I've heard of it (and Im from the other end of the planet - Australia) The guy who started it has been to Australia a few times to speak at conferences. God is doing some amazing things through the Dream Center - helping people get off drugs, turning lives around, ministering to prostitutes and homeless and the urban poor and showing Jesus love to those who need it most. I would strongly encourage you (or anyone) to go visit there if you can. There are now Dream Centers in other cities in the US, but the one in LA is the original and I think the largest. Ask around - there may be one closer to you if LA is too far away. i think the other centers are only loosely affiliated so that there may not be much info about other centers on the site you listed. Some in my small group last year at my church were wanting to go to LA to visit the Dream Center and then get our church to start something similar in our city. Nothing came of it but I am hearing that the church up the road has a vison of setting up a Dream Center. Hope things are going better for you and your kids I only lurk here occassionally, but I have been praying for you when Ive seen your posts. -ML
