Sojourner
how do you know the interpretations are correct?
They ring true to what I'm actually experiencing at a given point in life. I'll give a recent example. Several nights ago, I dreamt I was finally able to purchase a house. I'd totally fallen in love with it -- it was a stone, one-story house with a stone fence enclosing the yard. The yard was really nice -- well kept, lots of nice grass, and a couple of big shade trees. The house was built in, say, the 60s, with sort of a medieval inspiration in the design. It was really, really large inside -- plenty of room -- and when I was moving in my sister was with me, and I knew she'd be living with me and going to school. In fact, the house was big enough that I was planning on inviting several other people to live in it with me. And, I was excited because the former occupant was leaving several cool possessions in the house. I e-mailed my friend, and this is, in part, what she said: It suggests that you are yourself sturdy, in terms of mental health/ego and have very clear and good boundaries for yourself. At the same time, you are allowing others in at your discretion, but with a lot of love. It's a strong house, one capable of being defended and with a strong boundary. As far as someone leaving cool possessions behind ... I take that to mean that you have absorbed gifts that are of value from others and theyre not necessarily physical gifts, but inner strengths you've gained from learning from others' lives. Guest Rick777
My dreams smell of elderberries....lol. They help me none in my spiritual life in fact they do more harm than good. However I do find that at least a couple times a month I will be in a situation that I'm sure I dreamt of before...pretty wierd, but very fun

jezic
hmm... though would that apply to most people? (in regards to your reply to my previous post) There are things in psychology that can be true for almost anything because they are ambiguous. I do not discount your friend, nor seek to undermine the reality of what is happening. But at the heart of the matter, this is guesses about what goes on. THere are as many theories as there are people who study dreams. It very well might be that they really do mean something. We find this tradition in many other cultures outside of our own. While this is good, i would just take thigns with a grain of salt, especially when they spur action.

I don't remember most of mine. But those I do remember tend to stick with me for years afterwards, and in all honesty some have helped me deepen in faith. I agree that my friend's interpretations are guesses ... but, she knows me quite well and she's studied various dream meaning theories, so they're at least informed guesses. And my dreams generally don't directly spur action.

BC4Life
sometimes i think i have dreams that do have a spiritual meaning. i usually have dreams that are so happy, that i actaully get really sad when i wake up from them lol
Socrates
Dreams are basically just static feedback from the brain. They reflect waking events, thoughts, and feelings, but generally don't have much deep significance. At least mine don't. It's essentially garbage in, garbage out. God may occasionally speak in to people in dreams, but these are more like visions, and from what I understand seem quite different from our ordinary night-to-night dreams. I don't think most people's dreams should be interpreted as omens or "messages from God." I think people should generally not put much stock in their dreams one way or another. And I believe "dream interpretation" is silly nonsense. It has no more credibility than astrology and horoscopes. Dream interpretation is silly pop psychobabble at best and is sinful and dangerous superstition at worst. Note the vague, somewhat flattering fortune-cookie tones of the "interpretation" of Sojourner's dream. One can find nice and pretty "meanings" or "symbolism" to any dreams. I would guess that the "meaning" is probably less poetic, but more literal and mundane - merely that she has an interest at some level in getting a new home.
I dreamed that I was Batman at least once - though the last time I don't think I ever actually got around to doing the bat thing; I was too busy living it up as Bruce Wayne - living in a mansion, having a butler, and dating hot babes. LOL I dunno -maybe my avatar's getting to me.
