The Church can NEVER lead anybody to do what is wrong.  We are to form our consciences according to its teachings.  If our conscience leads us to a conclusion that goes against Church teaching, then our conscience is wrong, not the Church.

amen. -_-

and when we are in the (endless) process of forming our consciences according to the teachings of holy mother church it would be a sin to do what she says when our consciences say no. to do what you think is wrong is ALWAYS a sin in the subjective sense, whether or not it is in the objective sense.

But as Catholics, we know (or at least ought to know) that Holy Mother Church CAN NEVER teach wrongly.

yes dave we "ought to know", but not all of us are blessed with the grace of knowing what we "ought to know".

that blessing comes with the desire to find it.

i shall pray for her.

I think that though her statements make someone think that Maria Shriver isn't really Catholic, we don't know for sure what is in her heart and in her mind. Many people (my family members included) don't know that there is a reason for everything the Church teaches, they just think She is being old-fashioned. I know it sounds silly, but really! Let's just pray that she realizes why the Church does what she does and comes back into line with the Church.
