photosynthesis
Thank you to all who were praying for me...last night was a difficult night for me, and I was tempted to do something horrible...(i'm pretty sure it wouldn't take too much imagination to guess what it is) I didn't sleep or anything, but I got a call from one of my best friends who hasn't called me in awhile... and that helped a lot! And in the middle of the night, I went to check my mail, and I got a letter from one of my very good friends who entered the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. I hadn't heard from her in a year!!! Her letter helped too! along with her letter she sent me all these holy cards (like i don't have holy cards taking over my room already one of them said this:
God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has commited some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission--I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons. He has not created me for nothing. I shall do good, I shall do His work. Therefore I will trust Him. Whatever, wherever I am. I cannot be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve Him; In perlexity, my perplexity may serve Him; If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve Him. He does nothing in vain. He knows what He is about. He may take away my friends, He may throw me among strangers. He may make me feel desolate, make my spirits sink, hide my future from me--still He knows what He is about.
This was exactly what I needed to hear... and God gave it to me at just the right time! I'm still feeling really bad and I miss my friend a lot, but I no longer want to do anything horrible to myself. thank you to all who were/are praying for me... theculturewarrior
I'm glad you're doing better. Just think of what it would be like for the people who love you, if you did something horrible to yourself. That would be an even worse anniversary. I'm still praying for you! photosynthesis
well... maybe not. it's not something I'd actually do... I keep reading the Catechism's teaching on life issues over and over again to stay rational. but it's a STRONG temptation.
scardella
yeah, who'd be there to talk about geeky things? I'd have to talk to all the jocks. And they don't know anything about computers. I'd have to ask for a new friend, and he'd probably be Or, I'd for a new friend, and God would send me That wouldn't be so much fun. It would be better if you let your cares away and give them a on the way out.

theculturewarrior
Suicide affects everybody it touches. The last time I was seriously suicidal, I would break the blades out of bic razors and sit in the bathroom and stare at them. One of the two guys I was living with (I don't think you can call squatters roommates : ) said, "If you did it, I'd still go to the movies tomorrow." It really doesn't work that way! Sometimes when people commit suicide, it gives one or more of the people around them PTSD. It would be an anniversery for your mother! It might be an anniversery for Fr. Matt, it would affect him deeply, I can tell you that! Despair is contagious, and suicide is the loudest act of despair there is. Don't think you would go unmourned! The good news is that hope is also contagious, and if you cling to hope, even in your darkest moments, God will bring you through this, and it will make sense one day, maybe some day soon. Remember, the way your circle of friends sees you, is the way they see the Church and ultimately God. If you give up, you will take souls down with you. However, when God brings you through this, and your life makes sense and is rich and satisfying (it will happen if you don't give up), the people who know you will say, "look at what God has done for her!" Despair is contagious, so is hope. It's spiritual warfare. You can be depressed and have hope, but sometimes it takes an act of the will. I'm praying for you!
