Jaime
sticks are fun except when traffic smells of elderberries. Driving around the Twin Cities during rush hour with a stick is such a pain. You have no hands for coffee or the cell phone.
jmj
I have a 5 speed truck. I learned to drive it in one day - the next day I had to drive it in Denver. I will never, ever drive in Denver. Ever. Again. I'm still a n00b on it and thus avoid driving it at all costs (which entirely defeats the point of getting better at it). However, it's becoming a very cold walk to RCIA, so I think I will have to start driving it again. Edited November 13, 2005 by jmj

ReinnieR
I don't have a car so I didn't vote in the poll, but I've never driven a stick shift car. I've only had my license for about 3 years... It was hard for me to learn to drive because my mom isn't a really good teacher, and I don't know my right from my left very well. I never really felt confident driving because she always made me feel like I'd never learn. In fact, I've only been driving without someone else in the car for about a year, and before last summer I was too scared to drive on New Jersey highways. I still have never pumped my own gasoline. : Jersey girls are spoiled. when I do drive, I drive my grandma's old 1990 Toyota Corrola. It's about to fall apart, but it still goes.
i don't blame you about being scared on Jersey High Ways. Jersey Drivers are crazy. that's why i'm glad that's where i learned how to drive. you learn how to drive defensively. I miss the turnpike, the GSP. DAF
I drive a 4 on the floor. I like it, but i don't like having to shift as much as the freedom of an automatic * visions of daisies and sunshine* Plus, it doesn't have a cup holder... jasJis
Ever teach anyone to drive a stick shift...?
Yes. I taught 2 of my sisters when they were 14. They did very well. 25+ years latter, my mom is still mad at me for teaching them to drive when they didn't have permits. Anybody can drive a stick shift. It just takes a little practice and a teacher that isn't going to get all hyper on you.

I miss the turnpike and the parkway too... have you ever played pick-an-exit?
