I miss driving a stick shift... :(

All the minivans are automatic... probably because you don't need one more thing to do when you're hauling a bunch of kids around...

I still want my 1968 VW Beetle... :(

technically a big rig doesnt have 20 gears. it would have 6 or 8 with a hi-lo and/or a split axle. if you cant drive with a clutch, learn. theyll become popular again because they are more fuel efficient.

Ain't that the truth! I've driven a manual for almost 10 years ... it just makes you feel so much more sporty or something, no matter what kind of car you drive.

I used to drive a 72 Dodge Van with a column shifter. In fact, me and a couple friends lived in it for a while. (We all got kicked out at the same time). There was a little pin on the clutch that kept shifting out of place, and when it did, it took two of us to shift gears. (It slipped out of place so often that we often did that).

In fact, nothing worked on that van. Not the spedometer, not the fuel guage, not the heater. I kind of miss it though because it was bigger than my apartment is now! :P:

I don't have a car so I didn't vote in the poll, but I've never driven a stick shift car. I've only had my license for about 3 years... It was hard for me to learn to drive because my mom isn't a really good teacher, and I don't know my right from my left very well. I never really felt confident driving because she always made me feel like I'd never learn. In fact, I've only been driving without someone else in the car for about a year, and before last summer I was too scared to drive on New Jersey highways.

I still have never pumped my own gasoline. :P: Jersey girls are spoiled.

when I do drive, I drive my grandma's old 1990 Toyota Corrola. It's about to fall apart, but it still goes.

So do I. They're very fuel efficient.

I'd love to learn... I learned on an automatic, and I've never really had the opportunity to learn a standard... I might just wind up w/ a smt/dsg (clutchless manual w/ paddles to shift), though, 'cause that's just like the "manual" on gran turismo...

Of course, then I'd always keep it near the redline and have horrible mileage. But, then again, I'd have a great time!

[quote name='hsmom']Ever teach anyone to drive a stick shift...?

Umm... if anyone in Houston is reading this, can someone teach me?

" Mine is a three in the tree.
Mine is a three on the floor.
Mine is a four on the floor.
I drive a five speed."

I don't understand this stuff.
